Position Summary
The Manager of Environmental Services leads and manages the operations and activities of the Environmental Services Department within assigned hospital locations. The manager ensures a clean, safe, sanitary environment while maintaining compliance with all State, Local, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Reporting Structure
Reports to: Hospitality Director, Environmental Services
Matrix Reports to: Hospital Chief Operations Officer

Key Responsibilities
Quality & Compliance
Evaluate existing systems and processes and recommend improvements.
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (TJC), OSHA, EEOC, and other regulatory standards.
Maintain adherence to corporate integrity and compliance programs.
Manage all Environmental Services functions to maintain a sanitary and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Operations
Lead daily Environmental Services operations across patient and non-patient areas.
Manage assigned square footage and cleaning responsibilities.
Prepare departmental records, reports, and analyses, including bed turnaround metrics.
Patient Experience
Promote positive patient interactions and service excellence.
Support HCAHPS goals and patient satisfaction initiatives.
Participate in service recovery efforts when needed.
Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, staff, and Environmental Services.
Leadership & Staff Development
Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate Environmental Services team members.
Conduct competency assessments and performance reviews.
Coach and mentor staff to improve performance and engagement.
Drive employee engagement and accountability.
Financial Management
Manage departmental budgets and productivity targets.
Oversee purchasing of chemicals, equipment, linen, and supplies.
Ensure accurate GL coding and financial reporting.
Manage costs to achieve Net Spend per Adjusted Patient Day (APD) goals.
Maximize use of HealthTrust contracted vendors.
Growth & Innovation
Identify and implement innovative services, equipment, and processes.
Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements.
Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma
Minimum 3 years of Environmental Services management experience
Strong leadership and team management skills
Preferred
College Degree
Knowledge of hospital operations
Knowledge of healthcare financial metrics
