Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager - Research Laboratory Operations. In this role, the successful candidate provides operational management for all laboratories administered by Perlmutter Cancer Center, including those in the Smilow Research Center, Medical Science Building, Cure building and other sites as assigned. Operational management includes oversight of scientific instrumentation, facilities management including building operations, cleaning and recycling, climate control, compliance and laboratory safety. The Manager, Research Lab Operations will assist with the response to emergency needs either on-site or electronically, and if necessary, outside of normal business hours. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Grants and Research Administration, partner with PCC Grants and Finance Administration to assess lab staffing needs, funding resources and personnel changes in PCC laboratories. Serve as the primary operational contact for the on-boarding and off-boarding of laboratory PI's and their lab members.
Job Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor of Science in Biology, chemistry or relevant science or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. 3 to 5 years of laboratory and/or laboratory operations experience. Individual should have a familiarity with the capabilities, requirements, uses and physical conditions for active research laboratories. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact productively with leadership, faculty and staff to identify and resolve problems. Prior experience in building/facility support and management preferred. Excellent project management skills and extensive knowledge of facilities management, complex operating systems and equipment maintenance and techniques and processes. Strong communication skills and relationship/team building skills. Excellent judgement and reasoning ability enabling problem-solving and issue resolution, with a variety of options in varying situations. Ability to work independently, take initiative and make decisions with in-depth understanding. Responsible for setting and meeting department deadlines in alignment with research operations strategic and operational plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in life science or health-related field.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.96 - $150,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
