    Job Title:

    Manager, Safety

    The Manager, Safety, is responsible for evaluating and managing safety protocols followed across all station operations, including direct leadership of Duty Managers, Safety and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Specialists. This role identifies trends, implements corrective actions, and ensures operational safety compliance. Additionally, this position organizes safety training and oversees comprehensive equipment management to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

    • Lead and develop a team of Duty Managers, Safety Specialists, and GSE Specialists to ensure comprehensive safety oversight across all operational areas.
    • Train and mentor safety specialists to perform all aspects of safety management, including inspections, compliance audits, and incident investigations.
    • Drive team performance and professional growth by providing regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations.
    • Ensure station compliance with all OSHA, FAA, and TSA regulations, policies, and safety requirements.
    • Develop and implement processes to maintain adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Partner with the Customer's Safety Management team to identify and execute improvements in safety and compliance practices.
    • Provide direct safety oversight across ramp operations, baggage handling, bussing, towing, facility maintenance, and injury management processes.
    • Proactively assess and mitigate risks to ensure a safe and compliant operational environment.
    • Manage and oversee GSE operations, including equipment allocation, inspection processes, and maintenance coordination.
    • Drive improvements in safety metrics through data-driven decision-making and proactive risk assessment.
    • Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to address safety incidents and operational hazards.
    • Monitor and analyze station safety KPIs, developing strategies to address gaps and achieve continuous improvement.
    • Direct incident investigations, identify root causes, and develop mitigation plans to prevent recurrence.
    • Participate in weekly Ground Incident Report reviews with Customer and station leadership to evaluate trends and action items.
    • Develop and deliver ongoing safety training programs to operational teams to support a culture of safety.
    • Provide clear, consistent safety communication using diverse media platforms.
    • Facilitate safety briefings and updates to ensure alignment across operational teams.
    • Facilitate local safety committee meetings, addressing and resolving concerns identified by committee members.
    • Coordinate and report on station safety initiatives and improvements to senior leadership.
    • Protect employee safety and mitigate company liability by proactively managing operational risks.
    • Oversee the local implementation of company drug testing policies and protocols.

    ** We'd love if you have some of these....**

    • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, business administration, or a closely related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the aviation or airline industry, specifically in ground handling or airport operations, required.
    • At least 3 years of experience managing projects, with a focus on operational improvements or safety initiatives, preferred.
    • Advanced understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and comprehensive airline security compliance, including TSA and FAA requirements, is required.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, TSA protocols, and FAA requirements directly related to customer service and ground handling operations is required.
    • Strong technical knowledge of ground support equipment (GSE) operations, maintenance schedules, and safety standards is required.
    • Proven ability to conduct thorough root cause analyses, develop actionable corrective measures, and track implementation outcomes.
    • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of safety compliance, and mentoring team members to achieve operational excellence.
    • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to influence outcomes aligned with the company's goals.
    • Must be proactive, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively to ensure daily operational objectives are met.
    • Experience providing constructive feedback, implementing corrective actions, and issuing progressive discipline in compliance with company policy.

    • Obtain and maintain an airport security clearance, customs seal, and/or USPS security clearance including background criminal history check, drug screen, and fingerprinting is required.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. or disclose their compensation or the compensation of other employees or applicants are also protected by law.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

    Additional Information

    Salary Range (if applicable):

    The hiring range for this position is $64,150-$80,167 per year. The current full salary range for this position is $64,150-$96,225 per year.
