    Job Description

    A high-acuity perioperative program in the Fort Walton Beach region is seeking an experienced Manager of PACU to provide operational, clinical, and staff leadership across a 16-bed Post-Anesthesia Care Unit in a Level II trauma environment. The PACU averages ~30 patients per day and supports a wide range of surgical specialties, including emergent and complex procedures.

    The PACU Manager works closely with the Director of Surgical Services to drive quality outcomes, ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen team culture, and support a seamless perioperative patient experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead all PACU operations with 24-hour accountability for staffing, quality, safety, and patient outcomes.

    • Supervise charge nurses and frontline staff, providing coaching, feedback, evaluations, and disciplinary support.

    • Maintain current knowledge of perioperative standards, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

    • Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure coordinated, high-quality postoperative recovery care.

    • Oversee patient assessments, airway support, pain management, hemodynamic monitoring, and discharge readiness.

    • Ensure equipment readiness, safety compliance, and timely completion of PACU-specific quality checks.

    • Participate in rounding and proactively support patient and family needs.

    • Promote a culture of customer service, respect, and teamwork.

    • Manage supply utilization, equipment needs, and capital requests.

    • Identify and implement process improvements and recovery care enhancements.

    • Ensure patient education and understanding throughout recovery and discharge.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • 3+ years of recent acute-care PACU leadership experience (within the past year).

    • Active RN license (Florida or Compact).

    • Associate Degree in Nursing.

    • BLS within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 90 days.

    Preferred:

    • Experience in Level II trauma perioperative settings.

    • High-energy, flexible, team-oriented leadership style.

    • Beds: 16

    • Daily Volume: ~30 patients

    • Oversees: All PACU staff

    • Reports To: Director of Surgical Services

    • Reason for Vacancy: Previous leader relocated out of state
