    CONTEXT: Our client is a well-established public accounting firm providing tax, accounting, and advisory services to closely held businesses and individual clients. The firm is seeking a hands-on leader to oversee day-to-day operations, mentor staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients. The Firm Operations & Client Advisory Manager will oversee the firm's accounting and tax professionals, ensure high-quality client service, and provide financial guidance to small business clients. This role combines practice management, staff leadership, client relationship management, and fractional CFO-style advisory services.

    This position is ideal for an experienced CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) who enjoys both people leadership and client advisory work. The owner is looking for a key team member to take ownership of daily firm operations while helping clients make informed financial decisions and grow their businesses. While business development opportunities are available, this position is not expected to carry a sales quota or focus on new client acquisition.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting practice.
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 7–8 accounting and administrative professionals.
    • Review tax returns, financial statements, and client deliverables for accuracy and quality.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to business clients regarding financial performance, profitability, cash flow, budgeting, and growth strategies.
    • Present financial statements and key performance metrics to clients.
    • Provide fractional CFO and outsourced accounting support to small and mid-sized businesses.
    • Establish and improve internal processes, workflows, and operational efficiencies.
    • Assist with client issue resolution and maintain strong client relationships.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with firm ownership on strategic planning and operational initiatives.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • CPA license strongly preferred; Enrolled Agent (EA) designation will also be considered.
    • 7+ years of progressive experience within a CPA firm, tax practice, or public accounting environment.
    • Prior experience managing accounting professionals and overseeing client engagements.
    • Strong background in tax, financial statement preparation, and small business accounting.
    • Experience advising business owners on financial performance, cash flow, budgeting, and operational decisions.
    • Ability to confidently present financial information and recommendations to clients.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
    • Proficiency with common tax, accounting, and practice management software.
  • Compensation
    $125,000-$150,000 per year
