Job Description
NBC News is seeking a seasoned Managing Editor to lead its Investigative Unit, a pivotal role responsible for steering high-impact journalism that holds power to account and drives public discourse. The ideal candidate will possess a robust track record of producing award-winning investigations and enterprise journalism across multiple platforms, including broadcast, digital, and streaming. This leader will play a critical role in shaping the editorial vision, ensuring the integrity, originality, and excellence of NBC News’ investigative and enterprise reporting.
As a key NBC News editorial leader, the Managing Editor will collaborate closely with senior editors, producers, correspondents, and legal and standards teams to develop and execute impactful projects. This person will be adept at conceiving stories to pursue in and around the news cycle and will be expected to lead teams to produce quick-turn original reporting and rapid investigations. This person will embrace working in a collaborative newsroom and under deadline pressure. Strong script writing and attention to detail are crucial, as well as strong news judgment, journalistic ethics, and a strong story sense. This individual will be instrumental in fostering a culture of accountability and enterprise storytelling, mentoring investigative teams, and integrating ambitious, original journalism across NBC News platforms.
