Mano en Mano is a non-profit organization based in Milbridge, ME with a mission to work with farmworkers and immigrants to settle and thrive in Maine. Since 2010, we have partnered with the Maine MEP to offer services to migrant children, youth, and families in Washington County. Beginning in February 2017, this partnership extended to a statewide basis where Mano en Mano is responsible for service provision across Maine.

What is the Maine Migrant Education Program (MEP)?

The Maine MEP works with migrant agricultural and fishing workers and their families to mitigate educational disruption resulting from their mobile lifestyles. The Maine MEP works throughout the state to identify and recruit migrant children for educational and support service programs. Migrant children may receive supplementary basic skills instruction, supportive health services, social service referrals and more through the Maine MEP.

All applicants should have a strong commitment to equity and social justice, with demonstrated understanding of cultural diversity and anti-bias. Applicants must also show enthusiasm for working with students, families, and community members. Experience working with migrant farmworkers or multilingual students, and a general awareness of poverty and its effects on education are preferred.
