    Title: Manual Machinist (Lathe, VTL, Mill, HBM)

    Shift: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

    Salary: $25.00 – $30.00 / Hour (DOE)

    Manual Machinist Role:

    This position exists to provide expert-level precision machining for the restoration and manufacturing of babbitt-lined bearings and large industrial components. The role is responsible for the full "setup-to-finish" process of unique, high-value parts within our client's specialized repair shop environment.

    Manual Machinist Responsibilities:

    • Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, vertical turret lathes (VTLs), and horizontal boring mills (HBM)
    • Perform intricate machining on large-scale parts involving babbitt and various steel alloys
    • Interpret complex technical drawings and engineering specifications to determine custom machining sequences
    • Utilize precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges to ensure exacting tolerances
    • Adapt machining techniques to the "part-to-part" variety inherent in a repair shop environment
    • Monitor equipment performance and perform routine adjustments to maintain part integrity
    • Document all measurements and machining steps to maintain quality control standards
    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency

    Manual Machinist Reporting Relationships:

    The candidate will report to the Shop Manager and has no direct reports.

    About You:

    • Possess 5+ years of experience in a manual job shop environment
    • Demonstrate proven proficiency with large-scale manual lathes and VTLs
    • Exhibit strong technical literacy in reading blueprints and performing shop math
    • Display a "repair mindset" with experience in one-off or low-volume environments
    • Master the use of various precision inspection and measurement instruments
    • Maintain the physical stamina required to handle large-scale industrial components
    • Show a track record of reliability and punctuality for 6:00 AM starts
    • Commit to high-quality craftsmanship in a specialized industrial setting
