Manufacturing Assistant Manager (2nd Shift) Northern AL
Job Summary:
Directs Group Leaders, Team Leaders and other Team Members in assigned manufacturing area (e.g., seat assembly, welding and/or kitting, etc.) in the execution of the group’s responsibilities. Manages group (manufacturing line, cells, or area) as an operational unit and responsible to accomplish company goals and targets in accordance with all company policies, manufacturing standards and methods, and quality standards for safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, accuracy, productivity, cost reduction, housekeeping, efficiency, training, teamwork, and morale.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coach Group Leaders, Team Leaders, and Team Members.
Coordinate staffing, job rotations, and monitor attendance and performance.
Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
Utilize TPS (Toyota Production System) methods to optimize processes and eliminate waste.
Maintain production standards and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Troubleshoot production, safety, and quality issues.
Lead training and cross-training, ensuring effective onboarding and skills development.
Conduct ergonomic assessments and ensure a safe working environment.
Analyze data, prepare reports, and maintain KPI tracking systems.
Communicate regularly with internal teams and across shifts to ensure smooth operation.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's degree in Business, Manufacturing, or related field required; Bachelor’s preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in manufacturing.
Minimum 2 years in a supervisory/leadership role.
Automotive industry experience preferred.
Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and production efficiency (PEFF).
Proficient with MS Office; ERP systems like Oracle a plus.
Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
Work Environment:
Mixed office and plant environment.
Must wear PPE as required.
Occasional lifting up to 30–50 lbs.
Minimal travel.
