    Manufacturing Engineer – Defense & Aerospace

    Gulf Breeze, FL

    **Hours: 1st

    shift. 9/80 schedule**

    Pay: $38/hour

    Long term contract

    Position Overview

    As a Manufacturing Engineer in the Defense and Aerospace sector, you will play a critical role in shaping the production of complex, high-reliability products. You will develop, optimize, and implement manufacturing processes that drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the delivery of industry-leading products. Working closely with design, production, and quality teams, you will champion continuous improvement and help maintain our commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.

    Key Responsibilities

    Process Development

    • Design, document, and optimize manufacturing processes and work instructions to achieve product specifications and quality standards.
    • Identify and implement process improvements focused on efficiency, productivity, and safety.

    Production Optimization

    • Partner with design engineers to ensure the manufacturability of new and existing products.
    • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and drive corrective actions to enhance throughput and reduce lead times.

    Equipment & Technology Integration

    • Evaluate, select, and integrate advanced manufacturing equipment and technologies (e.g., CNC machining, additive manufacturing) into production lines.
    • Ensure all equipment adheres to industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Lead and support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement initiatives.
    • Drive actions to reduce costs, eliminate waste, and enhance overall process capability and quality.

    Quality Assurance

    • Collaborate with quality teams to establish and sustain quality control procedures, including inspection, testing, and compliance with industry/customer standards (e.g., AS9100, ITAR, NADCAP).
    • Resolve production quality issues and implement preventive measures.

    Supply Chain & Collaboration

    • Work with supply chain teams and external suppliers to secure timely materials, components, and equipment.
    • Evaluate supplier performance to ensure alignment with quality and production targets.

    Documentation & Reporting

    • Maintain comprehensive documentation such as process specifications, SOPs, and engineering change orders.
    • Prepare and present reports on key metrics, project progress, and improvement outcomes.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Enforce adherence to workplace safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
    • Proactively identify hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies for a safe working environment.

    Required Qualifications & Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline); advanced degree preferred.
    • Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role, ideally within the defense or aerospace industry.
    • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and contemporary technologies (such as CNC, additive manufacturing, assembly, and test methods).
    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements: AS9100, ITAR, NADCAP, etc.
    • Proficient in CAD/CAM and related digital manufacturing tools.
    • Demonstrated experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
    • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and data interpretation skills.
    • Effective communicator and collaborator across multidisciplinary teams.
    • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering quality and reliability.
    • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, constantly evolving production environment.
