The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production. This role involves working closely with other engineers, production teams, and management to improve manufacturing workflows, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure that all processes comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities: Supervisory Responsibilities: • None. Duties/Responsibilities: • Update SolidWorks 3D models for compatibility with Amada laser cutting operations. • Program and operate CNC router for production of custom parts, ensuring precision and adherence to design specifications. • Design and implement new manufacturing processes or improve existing processes to enhance production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. • Conduct time studies, process simulations, and system analysis to identify areas for improvement. • Work with cross-functional teams to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. • Identify and resolve production issues or equipment malfunctions, working with maintenance and production teams. • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production defects or inefficiencies. • Monitor production processes and ensure they adhere to the set standards for quality and safety. • Ensure the proper use of materials, machinery, and manpower to achieve production goals. • Optimize workflow and layout of production areas to minimize bottlenecks and maximize productivity. • Select, design, and specify the necessary machinery, tools, and equipment for production processes. • Oversee the installation, calibration, and testing of new equipment. • Evaluate the performance of production tools and machinery, making necessary adjustments and upgrades. • Ensure all production processes meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety regulations. • Work with quality control teams to develop and monitor inspection processes and implement quality checks. Qualifications: Required Skills/Abilities: • Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design updates. • Proficient in setting up, operating, and performing basic troubleshooting on CNC routers. • Prepare and present reports on production performance, process improvements, and project statuses to management. • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., fabrication, assembly, welding, etc.). • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and other continuous improvement methodologies. • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. • Strong communication skills and teamwork abilities. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously. Education and Experience: • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. • 5 + years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. • 3 + years of experience in SolidWorks. • 2+ years programming laser machines (preferably Amada lasers) and a CNC router. Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit or stand for long periods while working on designs and troubleshooting equipment. • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. • Exposure to industrial machinery and electrical systems. • This role may involve working in both office settings (for planning and design) and on the production floor. • The manufacturing engineer must be comfortable with occasional travel to manufacturing facilities or vendor sites. A STATEMENT FROM SCOTT MANUFACTURING SOLUTIONS HUMAN ASSETS DEPARTMENT Scott Manufacturing Solutions has partnered with E-Verify to verify work eligibility in the United States. E-Verify compares employee data from Form I-9 and Employment Eligibility Verification to records held by the DHS and SSA. WHAT IS E-VERIFY? E-Verify is an Internet-based system that compares information entered by an employer from an employee’s Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to records available to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to confirm employment eligibility. E-Verify is administered by SSA and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Compensation: $88,000 - $92,000 yearly
