Do you enjoy finding better ways to build things?
Some engineers thrive behind a desk. Others prefer being where the work happens, collaborating with production teams, solving manufacturing challenges, and turning ideas into practical improvements.
If you're someone who enjoys both the technical and operational sides of manufacturing, this could be an excellent next step.
Impact Recruiting is partnering with an established heavy industrial manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who can bring fresh ideas, strong technical expertise, and a continuous improvement mindset to complex production operations.
This opportunity goes beyond day-to-day manufacturing support. You'll have the chance to influence production methods, improve processes, develop innovative tooling solutions, and help shape how manufacturing operations become safer, more efficient, and more cost-effective.
What You'll Be Working On
You'll collaborate with engineering, operations, and production teams to tackle real manufacturing challenges, including:
Finding smarter ways to manufacture and assemble complex products while improving safety, quality, and efficiency.
Identifying production bottlenecks, evaluating root causes, and implementing sustainable improvements.
Developing tooling, fixtures, work aids, and equipment solutions that make manufacturing easier and more productive.
Improving fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes.
Evaluating manufacturing sequences, material handling methods, and production workflows.
Leading Lean and continuous improvement projects that deliver measurable operational and financial results.
Using production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities and measure success.
Evaluating equipment upgrades, automation opportunities, and capital investments, including cost justification and ROI.
Partnering with shop-floor teams and leadership to turn improvement ideas into implemented solutions.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
We're looking for an engineer who combines technical knowledge with practical manufacturing experience and the ability to influence change.
Ideally, you bring:
A bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Approximately 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar production environment.
Experience improving manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, or production methods.
Familiarity with metal fabrication, welding, machining, and mechanical assembly.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement approaches.
Experience using CAD/CAM tools, engineering drawings, and manufacturing data.
The ability to evaluate improvement opportunities from both technical and financial perspectives.
Strong problem-solving, project coordination, and communication skills.
A collaborative approach to working with production teams and influencing stakeholders across departments.
Experience in aerospace, heavy equipment, defense, marine, industrial machinery, or other complex manufacturing environments would be especially relevant.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
You'll have the opportunity to work on challenging, large-scale industrial projects where engineering improvements make a visible difference.
Rather than focusing exclusively on product design or responding to daily production issues, you'll help drive longer-term improvements in how work gets done.
It's an opportunity to combine hands-on engineering, problem-solving, project leadership, and manufacturing strategy while collaborating with people who understand the realities of production.
