About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join a precision metal machine shop. This role is ideal for someone with strong machining knowledge who understands how parts are made, how jobs move through a shop, and how to support efficient, high-quality production.
A formal engineering degree is not required, though candidates with a degree will be considered. We are primarily looking for practical manufacturing experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with machinists, programmers, purchasing, quality, and shop leadership.
Key Responsibilities - Manufacturing Engineer - Machine Shop
- Develop, review, and maintain manufacturing routings for precision machined components
- Plan job sequences, work centers, outside services, and production requirements
- Support quoting, job planning, and process development for new and repeat work
- Manage tooling requirements, including tool selection, setup needs, ordering, and inventory coordination
- Identify material requirements and coordinate material ordering with purchasing or shop leadership
- Work within the company’s ERP system to create, update, and maintain accurate job information
- Use JobBOSS or similar ERP software to manage routings, bills of material, job travelers, and production data
- Assist with fixture planning, fixture design concepts, and workholding improvements
- Support machinists and programmers with process improvements, setup reduction, tooling issues, and manufacturing challenges
- Review drawings, specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements to ensure jobs are planned correctly
- Help improve shop efficiency, quality, repeatability, and on-time delivery
- Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and recommend practical solutions
- Collaborate with quality to address nonconformances, corrective actions, and process improvements
- Maintain organized and accurate documentation for jobs, processes, tools, and materials
Qualifications \- Manufacturing Engineer - Machine Shop
- Machining experience in a precision metal machine shop strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of CNC machining, tooling, workholding, setups, and manufacturing processes
- Experience planning manufacturing routings and job sequences
- ERP system experience required; JobBOSS experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, tolerances, and specifications
- Experience with fixture design, fixture planning, or workholding concepts preferred
- Knowledge of material requirements, material ordering, and outside processing is a plus
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with machinists, programmers, purchasing, quality, and management
- Engineering degree preferred but not required; equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience will be strongly considered
Schedule \- Manufacturing Engineer - Machine Shop : This position follows a 4-10 schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
