Manufacturing Engineer
Osseo, MN | Direct-Hire | $80,000–$100,000 | 100% Onsite
The Manufacturing Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting and improving production activities. This position will focus on optimizing fabrication processes, improving quality systems, leading continuous improvement projects, and supporting cross-functional initiatives to enhance overall operational efficiency.
Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary owner for key elements of the quality system, including calibration processes, nonconformance (MRB) handling, and production documentation.
- Lead the planning and execution of changeover reduction initiatives and implement error-proofing solutions in a make-to-order (MTO) production environment.
- Specify, coordinate, and implement new equipment installations; oversee start-up qualification and performance validation.
- Research, write, and present capital expenditure proposals to support plant expansion and capability growth.
- Identify and execute cross-departmental continuous improvement projects by working closely with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Use AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create and revise facility layouts, production tooling, and equipment drawings.
- Assist in the design and drafting of mechanical systems; prepare BOMs and coordinate with suppliers for special components or tooling.
- Provide direct programming support for CNC machines using CAD-based files.
- Actively support safety and quality initiatives; identify improvement opportunities and help deploy systems enhancements.
- Partner with supervisors, engineers, and production personnel to solve shop-floor challenges in real time.
- Lead or support projects aimed at increasing throughput, reducing waste, and improving workplace ergonomics.
Manufacturing Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role.
- Solid understanding of metal fabrication processes including press brake, turret punch, laser cutting, mechanical assembly, and electrical wiring.
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks in a production setting.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Manufacturing Engineer Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong project management capabilities with experience leading multi-functional technical initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience deploying lean tools such as 5S, value stream mapping, or Kaizen.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience writing machine programs based on CAD drawings or engineering models.
