OVERALL POSITION FUNCTION
The ideal candidate has proven engineering and project management experience and is interested in both analytical work and hands on involvement in production.
The right candidate will learn the Samscreen processes with an end goal of making production, technical and quality decisions regarding methods, processes, equipment, and staff development. Additionally, you will work with the COO in continuing the development of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement objectives, in a fast paced, custom manufacturing environment.
The right candidate needs strong project management abilities, the ability to work cooperatively with a network of peers, and a drive to contribute to measurable improvement in our key performance metrics.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Expected areas of focus are:
● Implementing technical solutions to resolve production issues, improve overall processes, and expand production capabilities and output. This involves implementation of both capital projects and continuous improvement projects.
● Working on 5S and Lean manufacturing projects with our various department supervisors to improve visual workplace organization.
● Design of simple mechanisms, fixtures, and tools to support implementation of projects. Ability to use AutoCAD is needed, and familiarity with SolidWorks is a plus.
● Hands on involvement in manufacturing methods, and implementation of equipment. In many cases, this position is expected to be the technical lead in resolving issues, training staff, and documenting new methods.
● Creation, revision, and maintenance of Operations procedures. The right candidate will have the desire, drive, and technical skill to become a subject matter expert on our manufacturing processes.
● Supporting all operations functions, including scheduling, production, maintenance, and engineering.
● Understanding of ERP systems, and how Samscreen uses our ERP and corresponding systems to meet our production goals and philosophy. The Manufacturing Engineer will be evolved in developing job travelers and work standards, and contribute to the establishment overall production metrics.
● Makes recommendations to, and gets approval from the COO relating to capital equipment purchases.
● Assists with consistent and effective development, management, performance evaluation, and performance management of all Production, Quality, Engineering, Logistics, Maintenance and Safety groups, teams and personnel.

● Competence and mastery of assigned work tasks
● Production Utilization and efficiency for the production area
● Compliance with daily and weekly 5S goals
● Completion of Continuous Improvement/Lean driven projects, and maintenance of existing work standards
● On time delivery for both the production area, and for contribution to all product lines.
● Quality as measured in both customer returns and internal product scrap rates
● Attendance and Punctuality. Leadership by example is a core element of success.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
● Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field.
● Previous manufacturing experience required.
● Previous manufacturing engineering experience required.
● Previous continuous improvement experience required.
● Exceptional analytical ability toward solving production-related concerns.
● Knowledge of procuring materials, equipment, and labor needed throughout the production process.
● Proficiency in quality control, managing budgets, and production costing.
● Competence with computer-based administration, record-keeping, and procurement systems.
● Ability to work independently under the Chief Operating Officer, and as part of a production team.
● Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills toward managing human resources and liaising with other departments.
● Availability to work extended hours to meet deadlines, when necessary.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
Demonstrated Leadership ability, and experience in a Leadership role.
Ability to make, justify, and implement decisions.
Experience with CAD and programming EIA G-code.
Ability to work both individually and as a part of a team
Must be detail oriented, quality conscious, and willing to make decisions to support the organizations positive quality reputation.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Schedule is 1st shift, Monday to Friday, with potential of additional weekend/evening hours as needed.
