    The Manufacturing Engineering Intern is an entry level to early career position responsible for assisting and supporting all phases of the fabrication / manufacturing project lifecycle including set-up, machining operations, finishing, inspection, and testing with an emphasis on hands-on participation.

    OPPORTUNITIES:

    • Additive & Subtractive manufacturing of mechanical components, systems, fixtures and tooling
    • Extensive use of [HAAS] CNC + manual lathe, mill, and related manufacturing tooling;
    • Extensive use of precision inspection + validation instruments (optical comparator, micrometers, particle inspection, etc)
    • Coordinate with Testing and QC/QA
    • Use of CAD (Solidworks) software to read solid models and engineered drawings supporting rapid manufacturing
    • Use of CAM (Mastercam) software to create manufacturing job steps and prototype hardware
    • Coordinate project schedule with management, supply chain, and account managers
    • Support engineering, design, and manufacturing operations as needed
    • Support testing and QC/QA of products to determine product safety, efficacy, and conformity
    • Support brainstorming of new, creative product / process concepts and ideas
    • Troubleshoot production issues with project team members
    • Develop a broad knowledge base of technologies used in the markets served
    • Develop a broad knowledge base of JAKTOOL’s capabilities to support sales
    • Work independently on assignments and able to multi-task on several projects
    • Other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION:

    • A high school diploma is required
    • Vocational or College level training in machining, fabrication, welding, math, or current enrollment in one or related programs graduating within 12 months are considered pluses
    • Ideal candidate will have 1-4 years fabrication \ shop experience, or a more junior candidate with superior hands-on fabrication skills \ manufacturing experience

    SKILLS + EXPERIENCE:

    • Some hands-on shop experience in manufacturing and assembly is required (lathe, mill, machine tools)
    • Willingness to learn CAD (Solidworks) to read drawings and perform basic manipulation (dimensioning, etc) is required
    • Willingness to learn CAM (MasterCam) milling and turning
    • Prior experience with QA/QC and metrology
    • Must possess a very high degree of hands-on mechanical aptitude
    • Excellent analytical, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential
    • Good math and computer skills are required
    • Able to lift 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for most of the workday
