DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Lead is responsible for coordinating daily activities and team members on an assigned production line. This role ensures that the line meets safety, quality, and production standards, while working closely with the Production Supervisor to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiatives. The Manufacturing Lead acts as a hands-on leader, training team members, monitoring performance, and maintaining smooth workflow within their area of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Coordinate and oversee daily operations on an assigned production line to meet production schedules and quality standards.
· Provide hands-on leadership by working alongside team members while guiding workflow and priorities.
· Ensure team members follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety rules, and quality requirements.
· Monitor line performance and report issues, downtime, or equipment concerns to the Production Supervisor.
· Assist with setup, operation, and changeovers of equipment as needed.
· Train new team members on job tasks, safety protocols, and quality expectations.
· Track daily production numbers, labor hours, and rework for assigned line.
· Support problem-solving efforts to reduce bottlenecks and improve efficiency.
· Promote a clean, safe, and organized work area that complies with company and OSHA standards.
· Act as a communication link between line employees and the Production Supervisor.
· Provide input on employee performance and assist in coaching team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a reliable, hands-on leader who is organized, proactive, and team-focused. The ability to maintain safety, quality, and productivity on a fast-paced production line is essential.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with previous team lead or line leadership experience required.
· Familiarity with production processes, scheduling, and resource planning.
· Ability to learn and effectively use ERP systems for tracking production.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate team members.
· Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under time-sensitive conditions.
· Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and quality standards.
· Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Work is performed primarily on the production floor with regular exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
· Requires frequent walking, standing, and monitoring of operations on the assigned line.
· Must be able to occasionally bend, reach, or lift items up to 50 pounds.
· Requires flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work extended hours or weekends based on production needs.
· Regular interaction with production team members and supervisors in a fast-paced environment.
