At SMSI, we back our people. Above-market pay, strong benefits, real vocational development, and a tight-knit team that takes pride in doing the job right. We run a demanding manufacturing and fabrication operation, and we compensate accordingly for dedication, detail, and professionalism. We’re hiring a Manufacturing Operations Coordinator to run the administrative and digital backbone of our fabrication shop. This is a high-speed, high-accuracy position for someone who thrives in a manufacturing environment, lives in software, and has strong opinions about how workflows should run. You will own the digital systems our jobs flow through — from intake through delivery — and you’ll have a real mandate to improve them. If a process is slow, manual, or error-prone, we expect you to flag it and propose the fix. This is not an entry-level administrative role. We’re looking for an operator. Compensation- $24 - $32 hourly DOE (approximately $50,000 - $66,500/year) Responsibilities: • Manage manufacturing and fabrication jobs end-to-end in our project management and production software — create and maintain job folders, track progress, route purchase orders, and close out billing • Coordinate parts, materials, and equipment procurement for active jobs • Own calendars and scheduling across project milestones, vendor deliveries, subcontractor coordination, and install/ship dates • Draft professional correspondence, quotes, RFIs, submittals, and formal project documents • Track job progress, costs, and billing status; flag variances • Maintain the company safety manual and ensure ongoing OSHA and industry compliance documentation • Actively identify and implement workflow improvements across intake, scheduling, procurement, production tracking, and closeout • Serve as the digital hub connecting office, shop floor, field crews, and vendors Qualifications: • Fast with new software, comfortable learning ERP, project management, and experience with scheduling platforms. Strong Excel/Google Sheets — formulas, pivots, clean data habits. • 2+ years in a coordinator, project admin, operations, or production support role. • Manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or industrial services experience strongly preferred. • Proven ability to juggle many open jobs without letting details slip through the cracks • Strong written communication — you will be drafting on behalf of the company • Basic accounting literacy: purchase orders, invoices, job costing, budget tracking • Comfortable in a shop environment and speaking directly with tradespeople, PMs, vendors, and customers • Excellent organizational skills and genuine attention to detail Nice to Have • Experience with manufacturing ERPs or job-costing platforms • Project management tool experience • Familiarity with fabrication workflows — metal, steel, industrial, millwork, or similar • OSHA 10 or willingness to complete it within 60 days • Experience automating workflows or building out templates, dashboards, or reporting Compensation: $24 - $32 hourly DOE
