Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School Yiwu invites applications from school leaders who thrive in intercultural environments to apply for the position of Principal.
Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School Yiwu is a BC Offshore School offering British Columbia K-12 curriculum that leads to the BC Graduation Program offered in grades 10 – 12, and the awarding of a BC Dogwood diploma. The students come from many countries around the world and their positive attitude and desire to learn are key aspects of this thriving school community.
The school has an enrolment of 135 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. The enrolment comes from foreign national families who are employed or own businesses in the community.
There is a strong desire among families to have close contact with the school and school leaders. The school has undergone regular BC ministry inspections and received excellent reports.
The successful candidate will be attracted to this unique opportunity to continue to support student success for primary and secondary learners. They will meet the following requirements:
Required Education and Experience
- Completion of a Masters degree, or evidence of enrollment in a Masters program;
- British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch certification;
- Minimum of three complete years of successful teaching in BC public, independent, offshore schools;
- Familiarity with the technology used in supporting student learning and experience with differentiated teaching practices related to inclusion, diversity and teaching students with exceptionalities;
- Ability to create a strong team amongst a group of experienced staff on two campuses
- Ability to work in an intercultural setting where building relationships with all partners that share the facilities will be critical to the success of the program and the school;
- Knowledge of the new curriculum, instruction and assessment strategies;
- A willingness to engage in student recruitment activities and activities which profile the school within the community;
- Intercultural communication skills and a desire to live and work in China;
- Previous experience in BC Offshore Schools is desirable but not required;
- Familiarity and experience with Student Management Software;
- Previous school administrative experience would be considered an asset.
