    Maple Star Colorado is a multi-service agency providing Foster Care, Clinical and Community Services. Maple Star began providing foster care in Denver in 1994 and has since grown to provide in-home, community and office based services throughout the Front Range. Our trauma informed approach to working with children and families is evidenced is all of our programs with a focus on healing, relationship and providing high quality client care.

    The Foster Care Recruitment Specialist is responsible for recruitment of foster homes through various marketing strategies. This position also includes working with the recruited homes through certification, including providing pre-certification training to the candidates.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities

    Recruitment of Foster Families:

    o Use appropriate marketing strategies to develop leads of potential foster parents.

    o Posting information regarding of foster families in approved social media or other appropriate professional organizations.

    o Utilize the website to capture inquiries and follow up with information.

    o Research, retain, and monitor sources of advertisement for recruitment

    o Connect with community partners or participate in foster care outreach activities that promote recruitment of new families and retention of current families.

    o Attend events to promote Maple Star within assigned region and with any affiliate organizations to attain new prospective foster/adoptive parents, while educating the community on the realistic need for foster families.

    o Utilize the website to capture inquiries and follow up with information.

    o Develop yearly recruiting plan according to assigned region to solicit prospective families regarding foster care. Document progress on the plan and discuss in supervision with supervisor. Identify any barriers to the plan and discuss options.

    o Recruit, specifically, families to work with specialized populations, including adolescents, LGBTQ, and medically fragile, teens, or high-needs youth.

    o Monitoring which families are recruited, to report those to the Executive Director, Foster Care Director and Placement Supervisor, and track where the leads originated.

    o Track and monitor all leads generated by marketing strategies. Manage information in appropriate system

    o Meet with prospective families to distribute information and application packets

    Certification of Foster Families in Compliance with Colorado Foster Regulations

    o In person meetings with families in certification process to support them with completion of the certification paperwork.

    o To monitor that all required paperwork and background searches of the certification process is completed in a timely manner.

    o Discuss any concerns about prospective referrals with the Foster Care Recruitment Director

    o Coordinate and provide 18-hour pre-certification parenting training according to agency’s trauma informed practices and protocols for families throughout the year, a minimum of 3x per year.

    o Development and management of training materials

    o Keep current and organized records that includes the number of families in process, those licensed, and any other pertinent data.

    o Be familiar with and follow all state regulations regarding foster care and adoption licensing.

    o Support Grant creation & implementation

    Education

    Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Service or related field

    Experience

    2 years of relevant experience in addition to degree

    Experience within Foster Care system & knowledge of Vol 7 Colorado State Rules & Regulations

    Job experience preferred in one of the following fields: human relations, social services, behavioral/social sciences, nonprofit, education, or child development preferred

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Proof of valid Driver License with clean driving record, as well as valid auto insurance

    Ability to pass fingerprinting and background checks

    SAFE Certified *can be completed upon hire

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge and use of a conceptual framework for child and adolescent development, emotional and behavior problems, and a range of treatment modalities including foster care.

    Understanding of the impact of trauma on individuals and ability to apply this to child development and parenting.

    Knowledge of & skills in effective & progressive networking and marketing strategies

    Effective organizational skills including time management, the ability to think clearly and logically; to problem solve effectively; written and oral communication skills; and the ability to function with minimal supervision.

    Maintain a high degree of professionalism regarding demeanor, dress, language, communication, and boundaries with co-workers and clients

    Interpersonal and communication skills for team collaboration

    Effective, respectful, and professional written and verbal communication

    Rapport building and maintenance with youth and adults

    Impeccable working relationships and knowledge of local agencies (such as DHS)

    Professional boundaries and self-care routines

    The ability to hold others accountable

    Presentation/training experience

    Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), adequate typing skills, and basic computer skills

    Knowledge and use of phone, copier, and other office equipment.

    Understanding and application of Trauma Informed Care and Collaborative Problem Solving

    Bilingual is a plus
