    SUMMARY

    As part of a clinical team, Skills Trainers provide in home skills training and support to youth with behavioral and/or mental health concerns placed in foster homes. Skills training is provided to assist with stabilization to maintain youth in community setting. Skills training is provided during times identified as most relevant to the family and may occur during late afternoons, evening and early mornings. Skills Trainers are able to have flexible schedule based on the needs of their clients. Skills Trainers are included as part of a member of the service team and progress toward meeting clients goals by providing daily, weekly, and monthly reports to DHS.. The position is an hourly, non-exempt position

    PAY : $15.38/hr

    QUALIFICATIONS

    A minimum of a High School Diploma and a combination of education and relevant experience totaling two years or greater

    Possess a valid driver license with a clean driving record

    Ability to operate and have access to a safe and reliable vehicle at all times

    Willing and able to drive in various road and weather conditions

    Have or be able to obtain the necessary auto insurance by start of employment

    Ability to work irregular days and/or hours

    Ability to sit and type for extended periods of time

    Ability to lift up 50 pounds and regularly carry up to 20 pounds

    Ability to walk up and down stairs, across uneven terrain, and short to medium distances

    Obtain and maintain certification in standard first aid and CPR

    Obtain and maintain training in the basic defensive techniques of NCI

    Ability to pass fingerprinting and background checks

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    Provide direct, skill-building services to consumers, primarily in a community setting

    Work as a service team member for consumer with frequent communication with other team members; including incident reporting

    Respond to referrals for new consumers within 24-hour timeline

    Provide indirect services for consumers (contacting caseworkers or service team members, documentation, travel time)

    Provide a minimum of 35 billable service hours per week with at least 20 hours being direct

    Regular and frequent driving to meet consumer needs; including consumer transportation

    Identifying the appropriate location and timing of skills training with consumers (including working at unconventional hours such as late nights, early mornings, and/or on occasional weekends)

    Timely completion of service plans, case notes, and reports (includes daily, weekly, and monthly reporting)

    Effective, respectful, and professional written and verbal communication

    Rapport building and maintenance with youth and adults

    Time management and organization

    Ability to work and communicate regularly with team members

    Professional boundaries and self-care routines

    Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and adequate typing skills

    Understanding and application of Trauma Informed Care and Collaborative Problem Solving

    Knowledge of community resources

    Problem solving and client engagement techniques
