About Your Role: Behavioral Health Skill Trainers Are...
Part of a team who provides in-home skills training and support to youth with behavioral and/or mental health concerns placed in foster homes.
Involved with providing assistance with stabilization to maintain youth in community setting.
Involved with providing skills training during times identified as most relevant to the family and may occur during late afternoons, evening and early mornings.
Able to have flexible schedule based on the needs of their clients.
Included as a member of the youth's service team
Documenting services by providing daily, weekly, and monthly reports to ODHS
Qualifications:
A minimum of a High School Diploma and a combination of education and relevant experience totaling one year or greater
Possess a valid driver license with a clean driving record
Ability to operate and have access to a safe and reliable vehicle at all times
Willing and able to drive in various road and weather conditions
Have or be able to obtain the necessary auto insurance by start of employment
Ability to work irregular days and/or hours
Ability to sit and type for extended periods of time
Ability to walk up and down stairs, across uneven terrain, and short to medium distances
Ability to pass fingerprinting and background checks
Spanish speaking individuals will receive a pay differential upon completion of a proficiency test, and are highly encouraged to apply!
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working from a home office and providing skill-building services to youth involved in the Child Welfare system, primarily in the resource (foster) home or a community setting
Work as a service team member for youth, with frequent communication with other team members
Provide indirect services for youth (contacting caseworkers or service team members, documentation, travel time)
Regular and frequent driving to meet client needs; including transportation
Identifying the appropriate location and timing of skills training with youth
Timely completion of service plans, case notes, and reports
Effective, respectful, and professional written and verbal communication
Rapport building and maintenance with youth and adults
Time management and organization
Ability to work and communicate regularly with team members
Professional boundaries and self-care routines
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and adequate typing skills
Understanding and application of Trauma Informed Care
Knowledge of community resources
Problem solving and client engagement techniques
