JOB SUMMARY

The Software Engineer (SE) is responsible for development and maintenance of Vulcan software. Vulcan, a CAD and resource estimation product, is built from a primarily legacy C++ code base, with additional C# and C code. The SE shall engage with  Maptek staff as necessary to satisfy software development acceptance criteria.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Design and develop new features in Vulcan to meet customer needs.
• Verifying the correctness of your code by writing unit tests and applying test-driven development techniques.
• Ensure quality of existing Vulcan functionality via proper code maintenance (debugging and troubleshooting).
• Adhere to established standards and methodologies, including daily scrums, peer code reviews, and testing.
• Foster an environment of collaboration by engaging with teammates in all Maptek departments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Hands on development experience in an object oriented language, C++ and C# preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related field.
• Desire to stay current and active in emerging technologies.
• Willingness to seek assistance in code development from appropriate parties when necessary.
• Demonstrates ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent time management / organization skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to sit for extended periods of time.

SUMMARY OF COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience and skills 
• Profit sharing bonus, depending on business performance
