POSITION PURPOSE To administer and perform payroll and human resources functions in accordance with established best practices as they apply to long-term care operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION Perform duties relative to the facilitys overall payroll and human resources functions. Process and verify time and attendance records in a timely manner. Maintain an individual payroll record for each employees earnings in accordance with current regulations governing such records. Maintain payroll deduction authorization records for individual employees. Verify work schedules against time cards when necessary. Maintain appropriate W-4 tax records for each employee. Ensure proper job codes are assigned to employees so that salary and wage expenses are distributed to the correct department. Prepare payroll records for computer input. Maintain time cards in accordance with current regulations. Distribute payroll checks to personnel no longer employed. Communicate with department directors/supervisors concerning payroll and human resources matters. Prepare monthly totals of payroll records as required by current regulations. Prepare and verify quarterly payroll reports as required. Prepare and deposit tax deposits in accordance with current regulations. Balance payroll reports at the end of each pay period. Maintain a record of all deductions from each employees pay check. Prepare payroll and human resources documents for all newly hired employees in accordance with payroll and human resources best practices guidelines. Remove terminated employee records from active status in a timely manner. Make written and oral reports/recommendations to administration concerning payroll and human resources functions. Assist employees in obtaining information concerning their payroll check, deductions, overtime, etc. Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished. Assist in preparing financial and statistical reports concerning payroll and human resources information, as directed. Assume the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing payroll and human resources functions and programs. Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and human resources information. Perform additional duties as assigned. EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS Must possess, as a minimum, a High School Diploma and 1-2 years of payroll and/or payroll/HR experience; healthcare and long term care experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
