Dock Manager – Freedom Boat Club Location: Chatham, MA (Cape Cod)

Hourly rate $25-28 depending on experience Additional income: gratuities from members

About the Role

Freedom Boat Club is hiring a Dock Manager to lead daily operations at our Chatham waterfront location.

This position oversees dock staff, boat readiness, safety standards, and member service. The Dock Manager is the on-site leader of the club and ensures the location runs smoothly throughout the boating season.

If you enjoy working around boats, leading a team, and being part of an active marina environment, this is a great opportunity to run a waterfront operation and build experience in marine operations.

A Typical Day

• Opening and preparing the dock for member reservations • Leading dock staff and supporting daily operations • Checking fleet readiness and coordinating repairs when needed • Greeting members and assisting with departures and returns • Managing staff schedules and daily dock coverage • Ensuring safety standards and procedures are followed

Responsibilities

Lead the Dock Team • Supervise dock staff and captains • Train and onboard seasonal team members • Build staff schedules and maintain dock coverage

Run Daily Club Operations • Oversee reservations and dock activity • Ensure boats are clean, fueled, and ready for members • Communicate with regional operations leadership

Maintain Safety Standards • Ensure safe dock and boating operations • Monitor weather and assist members with safe boating practices • Support seasonal launching, fueling, and storage logistics

Member Experience • Welcome members and provide dockside assistance • Help maintain a friendly and professional club environment

Ideal Background

This position is well suited for someone with experience in:

• Marina or dock operations • Boating or marine services • Charter or waterfront operations • Hospitality or outdoor leadership roles

Leadership experience is preferred. Boating experience is helpful but not required.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license • Comfortable working outdoors in a marina environment • Ability to manage staff schedules and daily operations • Boating safety certificate a plus (USCG or NASBLA)
