    Job Description

    SUMMARY: Marinaj Banquets and Events is seeking a full-time event sales representative responsible for selling and detailing all events ensuring that the guests’ expectations are exceeded. Whomever fills this position will support the company’s sales goals through professional sales techniques and good customer service, maintaining quality relations with existing accounts, and providing sales and marketing coverage by performing the following duties.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

    1.     Accepts all requests for proposals and pursues all leads for special events business including responding to inquiries and executing proposals and contracts.

    2.     Develop and distribute all communications related to the planning and execution of group functions, including but not limited to banquet event orders (BEO’s) and room sets according to the established guidelines.

    3.     Responsible for all payment information and collecting deposits outlined in the contract and per standard operating procedures.

    4.     Convert prospective clients into committed customers through on-site visits/meetings, property tours and proactive communication.

    5.     Maintain positive and productive relationships with internal departments and operations.

    6.     Committed to managing clients by providing the highest level of service and integrity.

    7.     Assist in the selling/planning of other associate’s groups as needed and directed by the Manager.

    8.     Attends sales meetings and weekly banquet event order meetings.

    9.     Provides the results of the wedding surveys to management.

    10.  Understands and reinforces Marinaj Banquets and Events service standards and ensures the safety of our guests and associates.

    11.  Responsible for replying to and following event leads via email and telephone.

    12.  Responsible for understanding the expectations of the client and communicating them to the staff. This includes the creation of work orders and attendance at weekly staff meetings

    13.  Works to maintain a high degree of client satisfaction and to secure positive reviews.

    14.  Organizes and willing attends bridal shows.

    15.  Will also be required to update client information using our software, complete tasks when due and provide feedback, including reasons for opportunities won and lost.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     ·     Must have minimum of 2 years in sales. (Preferably within the wedding, function space and food and beverage industries.)

    ·     Ability to work a flexible schedule.

    ·     Must have attention to detail, acute organization and multitasking skills.

    ·     Experience selling (Preferably within the wedding, function space and food and beverage industries.)

    ·     Solid knowledge of sales principles, techniques and practices common in the hospitality industry.

    ·     Ability to handle guest’s challenges.

    ·     Excellent communications skills including written and verbal.

    ·     Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.

    ·     Outgoing, personable, friendly with the ability to speak in front of clients and guests with clarity and confidence.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE ABILITY:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. SPANISH SPEAKING IS PREFERRED.

    MATH ABILITY:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Valid Driver's License
