Job Description
The purpose of this position is to work with worship staff, location pastor, & related staff to prepare for and lead worship predominately at Mariners in the Neighborhood (MITN) congregations and assist in building the team of volunteer worship leaders in a way that consistently upholds the values set by Mariners Worship.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Serve as the primary worship leader (leading worship, directing music rehearsals) at a MITN congregation most weekends. This includes singing and playing an instrument as necessary.
Weekly preparation includes lyrics, chord charts, vocal and band part memorization.
Serve the volunteer worship team by providing leadership, timely communication, mentorship and relationship to this team.
Assist the worship department by participating in most weekly team meetings and coaching zoom calls.
Prepare weekly band/vocal notes and communicate service details
Schedule worship volunteers through Planning Center Online.
Lead rehearsals, print charts, and finalize weekly set lists.
Connect with congregation Pastor each week to coordinate rehearsals and communication
Participate in any worship staff team meetings as assigned.
Lead worship vocally with excellence
Must lead with humility
Provide coaching to volunteer worship leaders and musicians on stage presence and enhancing their personal leadership on stage.
Coach and invest in future worship leaders
Stay up to date on current worship trends
Receive feedback from worship staff and congregation site pastor.
Attend or lead worship for Story Time or Staff Meetings when possible
Establish relationships with other worship leaders (in and out of town) and become a conduit of support, encouragement, and leadership.
Qualifications
Strong worship leader & vocalist
Ability to lead from an instrument- guitar (preferred) or keyboard
Ability to communicate essential musical details to vocalists and all instruments and function as music director for rehearsals
Prior experience leading worship.
Able to perform high quality, detailed work with minimum supervision within assigned deadlines.
