We are looking for a Payroll Manager to lead and transform our Americas payroll function as Palo Alto Networks continues to grow. The position requires a “hands on” person who is flexible, hard-working and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.

    This role will report to the Senior Manager of Americas Payroll based in Santa Clara, CA and will be managing a team of two senior payroll analysts (Santa Clara and Plano). 

    YOUR IMPACT

    • Supervise, train and coordinate activities of payroll staff to meet operational
    • requirements for the US, Canadian and Latin American payrolls
    • Involvement in the month-end financial close process by reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations for payroll related accounts
    • Advise the business on subject matter pertinent to payroll processing and employment tax reporting/withholding requirements
    • Interpret new legislation impacting payroll and operationalize solutions
    • Manage compliance with all internal accounting and payroll policies and procedures
    • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll
    • Responsible for the timely resolution of all escalated issues and employee inquiries
    • Manage the relationship with external payroll service providers and ensure payroll production is running smoothly
    • Define M&A integration plan and execute to rapidly onboard new acquisitions into payroll system
    • Drive and demonstrate measurable improvements through key performance indicators (KPIs) and other operational metrics
    • Work cross functionally with multiple internal and external stakeholder (HR, Legal, FP&A, IT, Tax, international payroll teams and external service providers) to identify and manage payroll projects centered around Hire-to-Retire (H2R) processes, that enable and enhance payroll processing aimed at increasing efficiency, scalability, and automation including implementation and optimization of new or existing payroll related systems

    YOUR EXPERIENCE  

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field
    • Ten plus (10+) years of payroll experience in a large, multi-state organization including at least three (3) years of hands-on payroll tax experience and at least five (5) years of experience managing staff
    • Certified payroll professional (CPP) certification a plus
    • ADP Workforce Now payroll software experience is a must
    • Excellent understanding of multi-state payroll and taxes at the federal, state and local level
    • Proactively maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
    • Strong understanding of accounting policies/procedures, including the
    • preparation/review of payroll related account reconciliations
    • Experience with integrating payrolls acquired through M&A
    • Experience managing payroll service providers in Latin America a plus
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence and drive sound business decisions
    • Excellent leadership skills with collaborative working style and ability to work cross functionally
    • Comfortable working in a global environment with business partners and team members that may be working from various locations
    • Strong program management and organizational skills with an ability to plan and perform multiple tasks
    • Naturally curious and inquisitive, with a focus on continuously improving processes and taking advantage of automation opportunities
    • Selects, retains, and develops talent to support company objectives and promote diversity
    • Ability to “roll-up sleeves” and apply an analytical mindset to resolve complex problems
    • Energetic, positive and customer service oriented attitude
    • NOTE : Must be able to commute to either our Plano, TX office or HQ based in Santa Clara, California for a minimum of 2 days per week as needed
