    Job Description

    The mission of the Community Center is to provide a sanctuary for those in crisis, offering long term resources for the chronically marginalized and needy, and a spiritual beacon of hope found in Jesus for the lost and broken.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Oversight of Volunteers

      • Manages volunteers in recruitment, retention, and recognition

      • Identifies volunteer strengths, giftings, and passions in order to place them into opportunities to succeed according to their calling

      • Lead volunteers in leadership development pipeline

    • Manages Thrift Store Logistics

      • Acts as the store assistant manager, overseeing donations from the community as well as store operations during open hours

      • Manages the back dock including executing systems and procedures from the intake process, sorting and redonation, to eventually getting items priced and to the sales floor

      • Fields thrift store related questions internally and externally

      • Manages interpersonal relationships of volunteers with one another

      • Assist the coordination of events and projects including Rooted, Volunteer Expo & Volunteer Interest

      • Oversees the store registers, monetary deposits, and shopper database

    • Connects Shoppers to Mariners Church

      • Connects the shoppers of the Thrift Store with the mission of the Community Center and Mariners Church

      • Manages ongoing relationships with the thrift store shoppers from our community

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Must have a dynamic personal relationship with Jesus, living a lifestyle that is above reproach

    • Ability to complete a wide range of tasks including email correspondence, spreadsheets, phone inquiries, file management and more. 

    • 3-5 years of retail  and volunteer experience

    • Weekend work availability

    • Experience with identifying and developing volunteer leaders

    • Effective time management, known for strong relational and communication skills

    • Must be able to demonstrate confidence, humility, servant leadership, and teamwork

    • Ability to execute logistical tasks and respond timely to messages

    • Able to successfully navigate competing personalities while pushing forward the mission, vision and underlying culture of the Community Center
