    About Dark Horse Insight

Dark Horse Insight is a full-service market research firm serving a mix of for-profit and non-profit clients, as well as multiple marketing, brand, and strategy agencies, across sectors. We believe that research is more than data—it's about real people and the decisions that impact them. Our values guide how we work:

    • We give a darn.
      • Life is more than work. Because there are so many other precious and meaningful parts of life apart from work, many people approach their work as the obstacle to those non-work pursuits and responsibilities.
      • At the same time, for most of us, work constitutes a significant share of our waking hours and our mental exertions. And we want that to count for something. We want our work to have an impact. We care about the success or failure of the clients we partner with, and we never forget that every organization we serve is having an impact on actual people. We care about them especially, as so much of our business involves representing their needs and goals to our clients.
      • We don't care about details because we're finicky or OCD. We care about details because we live with an awareness that the insights we help to surface will make a material difference for our clients and the people they serve.
    • We ask amazing questions and listen with love. * “Consumer” research is never merely pro forma. Those consumers and constituents are actual people. And people are complex and dynamic. To answer nearly every business question an organization brings to us, we're going to need to gather real, authentic information from actual humans. And we generally can't achieve that by asking simplistic questions. * Instead, we come at the business question from the perspective of those impacted. What experience or perceptions do they have enough context to share with us? What concepts are simply too abstract for them to respond to? We construct amazing questions crafted to elicit deep and true responses from people. * And then we listen with love. We set aside our own opinions, beliefs, worldview, and prior experience, and do our best to perceive the lived context embedded in the answers. Not just what are they saying, but in what context are they saying it? What are they not saying? What are they saying indirectly? Why are they reluctant to be direct? This is not so we can judge, but so that we can plant ourselves in their shoes while we hear and interpret what they're telling us.
    • We are accountable, mutual collaborators. * We're born collaborators, and we delight in building long-term, high-trust working relationships and partnerships. * Collaboration like this requires a mindset of mutuality. We put ourselves in the shoes of one another and our partners, and we always strive for win-win outcomes and mutual understanding. * This kind of high-trust collaboration raises the bar for accountability. We are accountable for the things we are primarily responsible for, and that sense of responsibility helps us expect accountability from one another. None of us can be successful in our own commitments unless we can count on our teammates and clients to come through on their commitments.

If you're looking for a place to grow, contribute meaningfully, and be apprenticed by people who care about your future, we'd love to hear from you.

DHI is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
