    Job Description

With more than 45 years of experience (founded in 1979), Meadowlark Optics is a trusted leader in the optics and photonics industry. We provide high-performance polarization components and hard-to-find optical solutions through both our standard product catalog and custom design and manufacturing services. Our products reflect decades-long focus on metrology and engineering expertise.

As an employee-owned company, our people are central to our success. Through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), every team member has a direct stake in the company’s performance and long-term growth. This ownership mindset fosters collaboration, accountability, and a shared commitment to excellence—when the company succeeds, our employees share in that success. We believe ESOP ownership creates a stronger culture, rewards long-term contributions, and aligns individual impact with company outcomes.

We are seeking a Marketing Communications Specialist who is both creative and technically curious. This role is highly collaborative and practical, focused on enabling the Solutions Engineering team, supporting customer conversations, and clearly communicating the value of our polarization components and systems.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats. You will be responsible for translating complex optical and photonic technologies into clear, compelling messaging for customers, partners, and the broader technical community. In a small-team environment, this role has direct impact on brand visibility, lead generation, and business growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain clear, consistent messaging across all customer-facing channels
    • Create and manage marketing content, including website copy, datasheets, application notes, presentations, case studies, and email campaigns
    • Ensure technical accuracy and consistency of marketing content through collaboration with engineering and subject matter experts
    • Collaborate closely with sales and engineering to understand products, applications, and customer value
    • Support lead generation efforts through content creation, campaign execution, and basic analytics
    • Partner closely with Sales and Solutions Engineering to create and refine customer-facing content that directly supports active sales opportunities.
    • Manage conference and trade show communications, including booth messaging, collateral, and pre/post-event outreach
    • Coordinate product announcements, press releases, and industry news
    • Maintain and update the company website and digital presence
    • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing content and campaigns to inform future improvements.
    • Support social media and professional community engagement (e.g., LinkedIn, industry forums)
    • Assist with branding, visual consistency, and messaging standards
    • Help build marketing processes and tools as the company grows

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field
    • Experience in marketing communications, content marketing, or technical marketing
    • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to clarity and accuracy
    • Ability to learn and communicate technical concepts effectively
    • Comfortable working independently in a small, fast-paced environment
    • Ability to prioritize and execute across multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines.
    • Comfortable operating with minimal existing marketing infrastructure and building processes as needed.
    • Highly organized with strong project management skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in optics, photonics, engineering, or other technical industries
    • Familiarity with B2B or technical product marketing
    • Experience supporting sales teams with collateral and messaging
    • Basic understanding of SEO, email marketing, and marketing analytics
    • Experience with trade shows, conferences, or industry events
    • Comfortable creating or modifying simple visual assets using common design or presentation tools.

    What We Offer

    • Competitive salary range: $65,000 – $95,000
