    POSITION SUMMARY Eden Theological Seminary is seeking a dynamic and skilled Marketing and Communications Director to lead and implement content-driven marketing initiatives across departments and platforms. This is a new, mid-level position created to unify and elevate Eden’s marketing efforts as the institution grows its presence in the landscape of progressive theological education and collaborates with external partner organizations. This position is part of the Advancement Team and will report to the Vice President of Advancement and Strategic Partnerships. For this position, Eden is open to a hybrid work schedule, requiring a minimum of 16 hours on-site weekly, some evenings and weekends required.

    The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in an environment with many moving pieces and can both build and manage marketing systems from the ground up. They will play a critical role in content creation, brand storytelling, audience engagement, and digital presence and production while working across teams to ensure alignment and consistency. A background or familiarity with theology is preferred.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    Content Strategy & Creation (40%)

    Create compelling written and visual content for key channels including website, email, social media, video, and print.

    Develop and manage an editorial calendar across teams (advancement, admissions, alumni, organizational partnerships).

    Draft blog posts, newsletters, donor updates, social media posts, alumni spotlight stories, and student features, in a variety of mediums including print, digital, and video. Initiate constituent contacts for this content.

    Serve as campus photographer for informal digital collection.

    Support faculty and team video production and post-production projects.

    Repurpose theological ideas, campus events, partner organization activities, and faculty work into engaging, audience-friendly content.

    Marketing Systems and Campaign Management (25%)

    Collaborate on launching new strategies outlined in Eden’s marketing, advancement and enrollment plans, including social media, organizational outreach, and alumni engagement.

    Lead the day-to-day management of Eden’s Mailchimp, website CMS, and social channels

    Coordinate and schedule campaigns to support student recruitment, donor engagement, and event promotion.

    Contribute to building new marketing automations for prospective students, donors, alumni engagement, and partner organizations.

    Brand & Messaging Stewardship (15%)

    Maintain consistency in voice, tone, and visual branding across all marketing and communications materials.

    Translate Eden’s theological identity and values into messaging that resonates with audiences inside and outside faith communities.

    Support development of branded materials including annual reports, admissions packets, exhibit materials, and advertising sponsorships with partner organizations.

    Cross-Departmental Collaboration (10%)

    Work closely with admissions, advancement and program teams to ensure that marketing supports their goals.

    Act as a bridge between departments to gather stories, capture highlights, and identify strategic communication moments.

    Metrics and Evaluation (10%)

    Track performance of key marketing initiatives using analytics tools.

    Evaluate what’s working and adjust tactics based on engagement metrics and audience feedback.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or digital strategy (nonprofit or higher education preferred

    Bachelor’s Degree

    Proven experience creating compelling content across platforms (especially web, social, and email)

    Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills

    Familiarity with Mailchimp, WordPress (or other CMS), Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing software

    Familiarity with digital advertising platforms including Meta Business Suite and Google Advertising

    Comfortable working independently in an environment with many moving pieces

    Understanding of progressive Christian values and ability to communicate with diverse faith audiences

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience with audience segmentation and campaign planning

    Knowledge of SEO best practices and Google Analytics

    Familiarity with higher ed admissions and communications

    Photography, videography, or video editing experience
