ABOUT SISTERREACH:
SisterReach, founded in October 2011, is Memphis, TN-based grassroots 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting the reproductive autonomy of Black women, women and teens of color, poor and rural women, LGBTQIA+ and gender expansive people, and their families through the framework of Reproductive and Sexual Justice. Our mission is to empower those we serve to lead healthy lives, nurture healthy families, and thrive in safe, and sustainable communities. Our efforts span local, state, regional, national, and international levels to drive meaningful impact.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Marketing & Communications Intern supports SisterReach’s digital marketing and communications efforts, with a focus on social media content development and publishing, digital organizing, event documentation, and audience engagement.
This internship is ideal for a student or emerging professional interested in nonprofit marketing, digital storytelling, reproductive and sexual justice advocacy, and/or community-centered communications. The intern will gain hands-on experience in content planning, digital strategy support, and performance analysis while working directly under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Creation & Editing
Assists with drafting social media captions and post copy
Supports the development of carousel posts, reels, and short-form video content
Collects photos, quotes, testimonials, and content for digital use
Assists in maintaining brand consistency across platforms
Supports monthly content calendar execution
Research & Development
Researches social media trends relevant to advocacy, nonprofit engagement, and youth audiences
Identifies new content ideas aligned with SisterReach’s campaigns
Supports A/B testing efforts and gathers basic analytics insights
Assists in preparing monthly social media performance summaries
Digital Organizing & Community Engagement
Assists with monitoring social media comments and DMs
Helps track engagement trends and audience responses
Supports community engagement efforts aligned with campaigns
Helps maintain organized folders for digital assets (photos, videos, graphics)
Event Promotion & Documentation Support
Assists with event content capture (photos, short video clips, quotes)
Helps prepare digital promotional materials for events
Supports post-event recap content creation
Administrative Support
Assists with content scheduling
Supports campaign prep and internal coordination tasks
Attends bi-weekly check-in meetings
Helps prepare content drafts for approval before publication
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong writing and communication skills
Organized, detail-oriented, and responsive
QUALIFICATIONS:
Interest in marketing, communications, public health, or social justice
Comfortable using and executing with Canva, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or similar platforms
Proven skillset in content creation, editing and posting
Willing to learn and take feedback
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Hours/Pay Range: 20-25 hours per month, $1,000 per month
