THE POSITION
Position Title: Marketing & Creative Design Coordinator
Location: Chicago, IL and Skokie, IL
Reports To: Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications, & Business Development
The Marketing & Creative Design Coordinator will work directly with the Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications, and Business Development and Communications Manager to support the Museum's mission with a focus on branding, design, and promotion. The goal of this position is to support visitors and membership engagement, foster an ongoing connection with the Museum, and build brand awareness. They will collaborate with the education, collections & exhibitions, and development teams to create and execute marketing and promotional strategies. This role is responsible for the design and execution of emails, print, and digital communications related to membership, exhibitions, and programming. Candidates must be able to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The Marketing & Creative Design Coordinator’s key responsibilities in General Marketing and Communications include:
- Design graphics for use in digital promotions (social, paid advertising, website, newsletter, etc.) as needed for Marketing activity, including supporting other Museum departments (educational programs, partner flyers, fundraising events, eblasts, etc.).
- Design and execute printed collateral, including flyers, rack cards, maps, posters, banners, etc. for on-site and off-site promotion.
- Promote efforts for visitor engagement and memberships as one of the keepers of the Museum’s brand standards and identity, maintaining a consistent image and voice across communication channels.
- Contribute to development of advertising creative for traditional, digital, and other media, including Google AdWords and Google grants.
- Collaborate with external agencies and partner vendors including graphic designers, photographers, media planning agencies, print houses, etc.
- Assist in ideation and implementation of annual marketing strategy to support the Museum in reaching its strategic goals.
- Collaborate with Communications Manager on writing and designing weekly and monthly newsletters, maintaining an institutional email calendar. This role is also responsible for sending post-program thank-you notes, post-visit thank-you notes, and various other types of emails, including surveys and membership/donation appeals.
- Support other Museum departments with email outreach strategy and community partner development.
- Manage and maintain database of newsletter subscribers and survey respondents, evaluating outreach effectiveness.
The Marketing & Creative Design Coordinator’s other key responsibilities include:
- Serve as webmaster and create/update web posts & pages as business needs evolve, including exhibition landing pages, Survivor profiles, and high-traffic pages such as “plan your visit,” ticketing, etc.
- Respond to web inquiries or direct to appropriate members/s of staff.
- Support all Museum departments in publishing and updating department-specific web content.
- Send monthly e-renewal campaign to lapsed members.
- In concert with Development Team, aid the development & execution of membership appeals (direct mail, email, etc.).
- Create digital communication toolkits for exhibitions and public programs. Toolkits include suggested language for social media posts and newsletters, PDF flyers, etc.
- Provide support to Communications Manager with social initiatives, collecting content at on/off-site programs as needed.
- Provide general support for the Marketing Team and other Museum initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned by Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications, & Business Development or CEO.
THE PERSON
Education | Experience
- BS/BA in Marketing, Design, English, Business or other related field required.
- 3 to 5 years of Marketing experience required.
- Prior experience at a mission-driven nonprofit preferred.
- Prior experience in Museums a plus.
Knowledge | Skills | Abilities
- Strong creative and artistic vision with a background in marketing and design.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required
- Experience with email marketing platforms (i.e., Wordfly, Constant Contact or similar)
- Experience with WordPress, knowledgeable about web publishing best practices
- Familiarity with Google Analytics is preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM is a plus.
ADDTIONAL INFORMATION
Salary and Benefits
- Salary range is $55,000 to $65,000. Salary for the position will be based on qualifications and experience.
