PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

This Product Manager position entails managing projects across Soft Goods and Kids Activity categories. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, possesses the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment, and is driven to shape and grow this role within the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide support to the Product Development Team with the following:

• Off-the-shelf adaptation
• Special product adaptation from wholesale line
• From scratch, new development
• Creation and management of timelines for full life cycle of products

o Maintain deadlines by working closely with Sourcing, Design, Legal, and Art teams

o Update and maintain timeline worksheets daily

o Provide creative input into design and development of new products

o Collect and track all revisions from multiple sources, such as Legal, Management, Design, and Focus groups

o Manage and track prototype creation process, including timelines, budgeting, and approvals

o Responsible for the quality and compliance for each assigned product

o Work with customer service team and QA team to resolve all product-related issues

o Manage online reviews for each product and implement strategies to constantly improve products

o Receive, review, and give comments on samples delivered from Asia

o Communicate daily with Asia via email and phone

o Travel to China is required (2-4 trips per year)

o Perform administrative duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university

• 5 to 10 years experience in hard goods/general merchandise product management/development

• 5 to 10 years experience working with overseas factories in China

• Good understanding in consumer product regulations and requirements, especially CPSC and ASTM standards

• Good understanding in consumer product testing process and be able to communicate with lab personnel

• Knowledge in different substrates and their attributes as it relates to production

• Knowledge in engineering drawing and CAD review

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel

• Must have great communication skills and be comfortable speaking to overseas counterparts on the phone

• Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment

• Adaptable to a rapidly changing business landscape

• Passionate about consumer products

• Ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude

• Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines

• Must be a self-motivator, self-starter, and independent thinker

• Fluency in Mandarin is preferred, but not required

• Strong interest in DIY and crafting activities is preferred
