    POSITION SUMMARY 

     

    The Peer Support Worker (PSW) is an integral part of the administrative and direct service activities in support of the MOBC’s Reengagement Hub. The PSW will be between the ages of 17-24 with lived experiences of the Opportunity Youth being served and will provide insight, perspective and leadership while co-creating and collaborating with staff, stakeholders and partners.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Develop and conduct marketing, outreach, recruitment materials and activities for the MOBC Reengagement Hub
    • Community outreach and recruitment including attending events to develop relationships with other young people who may be eligible for participation in programs
    • Provide information and simple referrals to visitors 
    • Create and facilitate presentations for young adult audiences on various education, employment and soft skill topics
    • Ongoing check-ins and follow-ups with participants 
    • Research career ladder pathways and create visual representations
    • Share own story and provide relational support and knowledge of available resources
    • Continue to invest in own professional and personal growth by setting goals, attending training and assuming leadership roles

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

     

    • The young adult(s) serving in this role have similar lived experience to the young people that will be served

     

    The above qualifications express the minimum standards of education and/or experience for this position. Other combinations of education and experience, if evaluated as equivalent, may be taken into consideration.

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: 

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Maintains credibility through sincerity, honesty, and discretion.
    • Builds and maintains positive relationships with internal and external constituents.
    • Basic technology skills and computer literacy 
    • Present professional demeanor  
    • Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
    • Documents regularly, thoroughly, accurately, and completely.
    • Exercises good and consistently fair judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with the staff and public in giving and obtaining information.
