    Position Summary:

    The Early Head Start Home Visitor is responsible for delivering home-based services to families with children aged birth to three years old. The role involves planning and implementing educational activities both within the home environment and in group socialization settings. The primary focus is on promoting child and family development, empowering parents as their children's first teachers, and connecting families with necessary support services and resources.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Conduct regular 90-minute home visits to families with young children.
    • Implement child development curriculum within homes and during group socialization activities.
    • Facilitate group socialization experiences and other family group activities.
    • Provide educational and support services to families.
    • Conduct developmental screenings and ongoing assessments of children's progress.
    • Collaborate with families to establish family development goals and document the process.
    • Encourage parental involvement in curriculum planning and program governance.
    • Monitor and educate parents about children's health status and well-being.
    • Offer crisis intervention, resource referrals, and management services.
    • Act as a liaison between community resources and Early Head Start families.
    • Provide transportation resources to families when needed.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of home visits and related activities.
    • Ensure the confidentiality of family records and information.
    • Participate in supervision and training experiences.
    • Recruit and enroll families into the Early Head Start program.
    • Perform other assigned duties.

    Job Requirements:

    • Minimum of a home-based CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate's or bachelor's degree.
    • At least 2 years' experience working with children and families in a human service setting.
    • Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills.
    • Ability to work with families and children from diverse cultures and low-income backgrounds.
    • Empathetic, nonjudgmental, respectful, and professional approach to working with families.
    • Willingness to work in the homes of families residing in high-risk communities.
    • Flexible schedule and tasks.
    • Valid driver's license and car insurance.

    • Bilingual skills preferred, specifically English and Spanish.

    Language Skills:

    • Proficiency in reading and speaking English.
    • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish preferred.
