    Position Title: Director of Editorial and Creative Services

    Position Summary and Responsibilities
    Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Editorial and Creative Services will be responsible for developing and implementing all external communications for Mass Insight including publications, social media, public relations, and media strategies for our Mass Insight Global Partnerships (MIGP) and Mass Insight Education (MIE) businesses. Mass Insight is involved in a broad range of issues, including education, cyber security, financial services and life sciences. The Director will lead the communications team to consistently articulate our mission and creatively package relevant issues to ensure we are positioned as a thought leader and network convener.  The ideal candidate will be an innovative strategic thinker who is also willing and eager to roll up their sleeves and deliver integrated campaigns to our diverse networks of local political, corporate, education and university communities. The Director will be an accomplished editor and writer with a deep understanding of the issues Mass Insight is engaged with through both MIGP and MIE organizations, and is successful working in an entrepreneurial environment.  

    Leadership and Strategic Planning 
    •    Partner with the CEO and leadership team to design a communications plan that achieves our business goals and broadens awareness of our programs 
    •    Develop a strong public brand and image for Mass Insight through various media channels, communications campaigns and promotion of speaking engagements; strengthen partnerships with key community stakeholders and media representatives  
    •    Collaborate with our development team to leverage resources and gain maximum exposure at the local, state and federal levels
    •    Set performance objectives and metrics for our communications campaigns; review and report on progress against goals; provide regular updates to the CEO and leadership team    
    •    Hire, manage and motivate a high performing communications team
    Publications
    •    Develop and implement a comprehensive publications strategy for MIGP and MIE 
    •    Promote and enhance the MIGP and MIE brands and visibility in marketplace via engaging, informative and relevant publications
    •    Oversee the entire production process, including recruiting, writing, graphics and production resources for print and online publications 
    •    Identify new publication opportunities to effectively engage our key constituencies 
    •    Plan, write and edit publications aligned with Mass Insight’s high standards; develop and maintain a style guide to ensure publications have a consistent style, voice and tone

    Communications 
    •    Drive an integrated print, digital and social media communications plan that appropriately frames issues to support our initiatives and engages our diverse audiences of elected officials, business and community leaders, teachers, principals, education leaders, key opinion leaders and media. Position Mass Insight and our partners as thought leaders in the market; promote relevant and insightful research and information
    •    Support event sponsorship efforts through development of effective promotional materials, media and other communications vehicles
    •    Identify public speaking and writing opportunities for the CEO and leadership team
    •    Design and manage website and social media strategies for effective messaging and positioning
    •    Set editorial calendar and keep to a production schedule


    Qualifications:
    •    Demonstrated ability and track record of raising awareness on critical business or policy issues through various communication platforms
    •    A leader, collaborator and implementer who thrives in mission-driven environments; is resourceful and creative in setting priorities
    •    Strong analytical skills; able to analyze data to affect cost-effective outcomes and future campaigns
    •    Effective communicator with excellent writing and editing skills (background as a journalist or speech writer a plus);  able to build relationships and influence external (both public and private sector) and internal stakeholders 
    •    Ability to communicate complex information in a simple and understandable way; can define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
    •    Experience using social media tools to advance message, brand and issues campaigns
    •    Prior budget management experience and P&L responsibility
    •    Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who can work independently in entrepreneurial and ambiguous environments
    •    Experienced manager of people,  providing coaching and career development guidance
    •    Content knowledge in education, cyber security, financial services and/or life sciences strongly preferred. Must be able to pick up new content quickly
