Georgetown’s Massive Data Institute (MDI) located at the McCourt School of Public Policy harnesses modern data and computing power to produce cutting edge research and improve public policy decision making.
The Health Care Financing Initiative (HCFI), founded for research on the financing and delivery economics of health care in the U.S., is currently engaged to provide the Health Economics research for Safe Babies Safe Moms (SBSM) maternal-child health initiative at MedStar Health System.
SBSM’s Health Economics Team plans several important projects: Extending the scope and structure of our SBSM health economics dataset; cost-effectiveness evaluation; and a review of external reporting and literature pertinent to perinatal outcomes in Washington, DC; and 1-2 research briefs. The SBSM 5-year clinical/research program is scheduled through March of 2025.
Job Overview
The Research Engineer/ Data Scientist/ Biostatistician , a member of the part of the technical team of Research Engineers and Data Analysts, will initially support the HCFI, located at the McCourt Research Center, with offices collocated with the Georgetown Law Center (600 New Jersey Ave).
They have a role critical to the expansion of our technical and analytical capability to support the Safe Babies Safe Moms clinical and research program with MedStar, and to assist with related research products for the HCFI Research Center. Duties include but are limited to:
Work Interactions.
The Research Engineer/ Data Scientist/ Biostatistician reports to Carol Davis, Assistant Research Professor, who currently serves as Principal Investigator for Health Economics on Safe Babies Safe Moms, and as Associate Director of the Health Care Financing Initiative at McCourt School of Public Policy; and to Lisa Singh, Director of the Massive Data Institute.
Greatly expanding the analytical capacity of our Health Economics Project team, and they will reduce a backlog of deferred programming and data management work originally intended for the entirety of the SBSM contract.
Additionally, they support the Safe Babies Safe Moms clinical and research program, working directly with 2 HCFI faculty and supporting researchers, as well as with graduate research assistants; and serves as a member of the MDI technical team and engages in relevant meetings and workshops.
