GENERAL SUMMARY: The BODYBAR Master Trainer & Instructor Specialist is one of the primary drivers behind BODYBAR’s instructor education, bringing the brand to life through expert training, inspiring leadership, and a passion for BODYBAR Pilates. Reporting to the Vice President of Fitness, the Master Trainer & Instructor Specialist serves as one of the primary faces of BODYBAR’s Instructor Training Program—delivering immersive, high-impact education that equips instructors to embody the BODYBAR Method with consistency, confidence, and excellence.
Beyond facilitating trainings in the field, the Master Trainer & Instructor Specialist contributes to the ongoing evolution of BODYBAR’s educational ecosystem. This includes developing curriculum, hosting continuing education, and capturing structured feedback to continuously strengthen training resources, standards, and delivery. Blending teaching and mentorship, the Master Trainer & Instructor Specialist shapes the future of BODYBAR education by developing instructors, supporting new studio launches, and ensuring every BODYBAR class nationwide reflects the exceptional experience the brand is known for.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructor Training & Facilitation
Serve as the lead facilitator for foundational instructor training during new studio openings nationwide, ensuring instructors are fully prepared to deliver the BODYBAR method with confidence, consistency, and alignment to brand standards while always prioritizing member safety.
Deliver training content according to the BODYBAR Instructor Training Program, including classes, facilitation, practical teaching, and real-time coaching.
Apply adult learning principles to create engaging, inclusive, and effective training environments.
Assess and coach human movement to ensure instruction aligns with Pilates principles, biomechanics, and BODYBAR safety standards.
Adapt facilitation techniques to support varied learning styles and instructor experience levels.
Provide clear, actionable feedback during evaluations and test-outs.
Model BODYBAR’s IT Factor—presence, energy, cueing clarity, rhythm, and connection—to guide instructor development.
Ensure all trainings meet BODYBAR’s safety, equipment, and risk management guidelines.
Partner with franchise owners during trainings to align expectations and support the development of their instructor teams.
Studio Support & Onboarding
Partner with Fitness Managers to support the Staff Training Period by:
Tracking course progression and test-out completion
Monitoring adherence to training timelines
Offering feedback and guidance to instructors and local teams
Executing ongoing support touchpoints, including continuing education, upskilling calls, and on-site visits as needed
Collaborate with Studio Onboarding and Operations teams to ensure fitness readiness aligns with studio opening milestones.
Provide structured, actionable feedback following each training, outlining strengths, opportunities, and learnings to inform system-wide program improvement.
Share learnings and best practices with the National Fitness Manager to support continuity between instructor and Fitness Manager development.
Curriculum Development & Innovation
Support the VP of Fitness in developing and enhancing BODYBAR’s educational programs.
Conduct research on fitness trends, teaching methodologies, and industry best practices.
Identify opportunities to expand BODYBAR’s educational offerings and improve instructor development pathways.
Write, edit, test, and refine training materials, manuals, workshops, and continuing education modules.
Support updates to the BODYBAR Instructor Training Program and certification roadmap.
Curriculum development and program innovation responsibilities will be prioritized during designated non-travel periods in alignment with department planning cycles.
Host and facilitate additional trainings, workshops, and test-outs as business needs evolve.
Program Evaluation & Reporting
Monitor instructor performance outcomes and collect feedback from trainings to ensure quality and consistency across studios.
Track training metrics, evaluations, and certification completions to inform HQ reporting and continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate documentation of instructor progress, training feedback, and certification status for HQ visibility.
Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to the VP of Fitness for enhancing the Instructor Training Program.
Brand Representation & Collaboration
Represent BODYBAR at industry events, conferences, and community activations to promote BODYBAR’s Instructor Training Program and brand presence.
Participate in franchisee webinars, leadership meetings, and instructor community events to foster engagement and alignment.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Franchise Development, and Operations to ensure BODYBAR education programs align with brand initiatives and messaging.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Comprehensive Pilates certification (minimum 450 hours) from a nationally recognized organization
Additional certifications preferred (e.g., NASM, ACE, AFAA) and/or a Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, exercise science, fitness management, or a related field
2+ years of experience in fitness education, including experience as a presenter, instructor educator, or Master Trainer
Proven experience in fitness curriculum development and instructional design
Experience teaching group fitness or boutique fitness modalities
Must be able to travel up to 90% of the time, often for multi-week training assignments and including weekends based on studio opening schedules.
Must be able to participate in and complete BODYBAR’s Instructor Training Program
Must embody the BODYBAR brand, culture, and values in every training and interaction
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to educate, inspire, and lead.
Strong facilitation skills grounded in adult learning principles and adaptable to varied learner styles.
Deep understanding of Pilates, biomechanics, and group fitness instruction with the ability to simplify and coach effectively.
Ability to deliver clear, constructive feedback and develop instructors’ IT Factor elements (presence, tone, rhythm, energy, connection).
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective at managing multiple priorities.
Skilled at identifying training gaps and translating insights into curriculum or process improvements.
Confident group facilitator capable of creating psychological safety and driving engagement.
Passion for fitness, education, and community; thrives independently and collaboratively.
Proficient in Google Workspace and adaptable to new technologies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to demonstrate Pilates exercises for extended periods
Ability to stand, move, and coach for 6–8+ hours per day
Ability to lift and adjust studio equipment (light to moderate loads)
Ability to travel frequently and perform job duties in a variety of studio environments
