    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Associate Buyer is the first working level of the Procurement team.  The Associate Buyer works to procure direct or indirect materials according to an established sourcing strategy or need by facilitating RFQs, negotiating pricing, and maintaining supplier relationships.  The Associate Buyer will work with management to identify cost-saving opportunities and realize those savings.

     

    This position will be coached on tactical aspects of supply chain procurement including MATERIAL COST REDUCTIONS (COST MODELS), PURCHASING PROCESSES, CONTRACT MANAGEMENT AND SOURCING ACTIVITIES.  Candidate will be mentored by an experienced team member on basic procurement processes and procedures to ensure success.

     

    PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and maintain component cost models
    • Monitor suppliers’ price, quality, delivery, and service performance; take corrective action when required
    • Analyze and negotiate price change requests for assigned parts
    • Accumulate, prepare, and present necessary reports concerning cost trends and price changes.
    • Maintain all applicable records, documents, SharePoint, databases etc. to ensure an organized and properly documented process.
    • Maintain supplier database (SAP) to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
    • Conduct necessary visits to plants and suppliers.

    • Numerical reasoning: effectively dealing with numbers and the ability to read, use and prepare spreadsheets.

    ·         Presentation skills: the ability to communicate to an audience in a formal setting.

    • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment: take initiative, work independently of day-to-day supervision, and communicate effectively.

    ·         Makes sound decisions in a timely and confident manner.

    ·         Knowledge of all common MS-office applications.  SAP preferred.

    ·         Strong follow-up skills; possess a high level of energy and enthusiasm.

    ·         Possess solid work ethic

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain or Engineering preferred)
    • 0 - 1 years’ experience
    • Willingness to travel up to 30%

    ·         Bi-lingual (Spanish or Mandarin preferred but not required); English proficiency is required
