Finance Analyst (Capital Asset Accounting)
Job Description
The Finance Analyst is a key position reporting to the Sr Supervisor and is included in the Central Accounting function at MBC. As a member of the MBC Finance Team, this central accounting role will primarily support the MBC Capital Asset accounting, along with the month end closing process and ongoing activities within the department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, aspects of: monthly close, compliance, reporting, performance analysis and special projects as they arise. This position requires the ability to work effectively individually and on teams within a matrix organization while handling multiple priorities across functions and levels throughout the business. This position requires a developing knowledge in accounting, finance, financial control, systems, information analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities
Monthly Capital Asset financial close support, including but not limited to:
Asset additions / retirements / adjustments / transfers; depreciation tie out; month end report preparation; CIP and cash spend – weekly & monthly tie out; and cash flow analysis / reporting for all divisions of the company
Review Capital Expenditure Requests for completeness
Asset Project set up in Oracle / Asset Tag administration
Manage Idle Asset log and reserves
Lead annual Asset Audits
Perform assigned close tasks accurately and timely
Prepare assigned journal entries and account reconciliations & substantiations
Assist with the assessment of monthly financial performance, including root cause analysis and highlighting performance improvement areas to the operations team
Develop detailed knowledge of accounting systems (Oracle FCCS/PBCS, Oracle GL, Friedman)
Maintain financial integrity by following established procedures, policies, and internal controls
Continuous improvement of internal processes and procedures in all areas of responsibility
Regularly engages in special projects related to finance & accounting efficiency improvement goals
