    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    We are seeking a Data Analyst to join the Masterworks Research team. A successful candidate will have exceptional analytical and programming skills and be passionate about efficiency, optimization, data analysis and data visualization. The ideal candidate has excellent proficiency in Python and SQL, as well as other data analytics and visualization tools. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who thrive in a dynamic, team-based environment with the initiative to work independently. The role would be a member of the Research and work closely with our Director of Art Market Research as well as CEO, Head of Acquisitions and Head of Private Sales. This role reports to the Director of Art Market Research. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:

    • Perform statistical analyses and test hypotheses on art data 
    • Create visualizations via dashboards and reporting to provide insights into artists markets
    • Summarize various characteristics of the art market (across time, segments and price points)

    REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Skillset

      • Python
      • SQL
      • Javascript
      • Visualization: plotly, matplotlib, seaborn / ggplot2
      • Statistical Modeling and packages: Scikit-learn, statsmodels/ stats
      • Time Series Analysis
      • Data wrangling: pandas, numpy
      • Experience with APIs / Markdown / LaTeX / SAS is a plus
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another related field

    • 3 - 5 years of experience in data analytics and statistics

    • Experience conducting economic and / or research projects (economic or finance based) asset classes

    • Basic understanding of hypothesis testing and fundamentals of statistics

    • Ability to analyze data and channel it through concise and compelling frameworks

    MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS IN FIRST 90 DAYS:

    • Contribute to the Masterworks dashboard to help create visualizations that summarize the key metrics of artists markets
    • Aid in the testing of 10+ hypotheses on artist markets to better understand relevant metrics when look

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to work in the office in NYC.
    • Must be eligible to work in the US - no exceptions.

    HOW DOES MASTERWORKS THINK ABOUT COMPENSATION?

    The compensation range for the role is $80-110k (inclusive only of base salary, and exclusive of other potential competitive benefits such as on-target commission, bonus payments, and equity). Our ranges are very broad to accommodate all types of candidates and encourage growth. Specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on factors such as education, experience, qualifications, and alignment with market data. Exceptional candidates may receive salaries outside of the posted ranges.
