    Job Description

    Position Summary:

    The Material Handling Technician I is a dedicated and reliable individual delegated to personally handling various material inventories, goods-in activities, waste management activities, and relevant operations in the Petaluma and Novato facilities, to include assigned projects of addressing and further developing the growing needs of LGC Biosearch’s supply chain management and organization therein. ****

    Areas of Responsibility:

    While guidance would come from upper management, the Material Handling Technician I would primarily work independently, focusing on tasks involving Biosearch’s warehouse processes, organization and inventory managements (to include, but not limited to, hazardous chemical inventories, raw materials, and finished goods), and chemical waste organization.

    Essential Functions:

    • Addressing demands in both Petaluma and Novato sites
    • Work within a Goods Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment, supporting guidelines to uphold GMP and ISO 13485 standards, as required.
    • Support the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the storage areas to meet service and OSHA, RCRA, HAZWOPER, and on-site EHS standards.
    • Support the safe and efficient operation of the vehicular fleet used to transport between the California sites, to meet service and OSHA, RCRA, HAZWOPER, DOT, and on-site EHS standards.
    • Support the safe and efficient operation of the powered lift truck fleet to meet service and OSHA, HAZWOPER, and on-site EHS standards.
    • Support the safe and efficient operation of Dangerous Goods shipping to meet service and OSHA, DOT, and on-site EHS standards.
    • Manage the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the warehouse and production floor inventory shelving areas to meet 5S and OSHA standards.
    • Supporting implementation of solution designs pertaining to the Material Handling processes and process flows organizing and supplying said goods for use by various internal customers.
    • Support robust cycle counting functionalities.
    • Work daily with cross-functional teams, including EHS, Facilities, Procurement, Production, Material Handling, and Operations.
    • Support Quality Control and Assurance in the release of inbound materials
    • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with both internal & external customers.
    • Stocking inventory to their assigned locations using manual and barcode scanning methods.
    • Develop supply chain Lean methods, and proactively work to resolve bottlenecks.
    • Create, update, and/or modify existing SOP documentation to see that the Inventory, Receiving, Shipping, and Hazardous Material Handling processes are in line with the needs of the business.
    • Management of direct reports to include interviewing & hiring, coaching, and delegation.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.
    • Travel Requirements – occasional travel between Petaluma & Novato sites, with mileage expensed.
    • Schedule/Core Hours – Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with potential for added hours as the workload requires. As an Exempt (salaried) position, overtime pay is not included.
    • Adherence to company Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) policy
    • Heavy use of ERP, MES, and desktop work.

    Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 1+ years of inventory management
    • HS degree or equivalent
    • Regular use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word
    • Use of a web browser.
    • ERP system familiarity; FMP and/or IFS a plus

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy of work
    • Flexibility to changing operating conditions
    • Ability to influence performance and team development
    • Prioritization and delegation of daily/weekly tasks
    • Daily use of computers in an ERP setting
    • Solid knowledge of data analysis, inventory management software, and forecasting techniques
    • Enthusiastic team player with exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Able to work independently, self-starter
    • Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
    • Able to lift 40lbs.
    • Kanban familiarity
    • HAZWOPER certification a bonus
    • Forklift familiarity recommended, certification a bonus
    • Warehouse environment experience

    Working Conditions:

    • Work environment – Primarily a warehouse setting with manufacturing and office exposure.
    • Extreme Conditions – The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Climate-controlled storage units are also utilized, with cold-weather gear available on demand as defined in our company safety & PPE policies.
    • Protective Clothing Required – steel-toe shoes, hearing, and eye protection, as provided and defined in our company safety & PPE policies.
    • Potential injuries or illnesses – Though guided and defined in our company safety & PPE policies, employees will receive OSHA-approved training.
    • Handling of hazardous waste – This role has occasional handling of hazardous chemicals. The employee receives initial hazardous waste management training when hired to a position that requires managing hazardous waste. Annual refresher training is provided every year he or she remains in that position.
    • Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions and specific personnel training for employees working with hazardous materials and hazardous waste.

    The typical pay range for this role is:

    Minimum: $ 21.00/Hourly

    Maximum: $ 33.71/Hourly

    This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the California -based position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as: experience, skills, and location.
