Solar Manufacturing company with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and improving access to clean energy. With a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Fort Mills, SC, they utilize advanced manufacturing technology to produce high efficiency PV cells and modules. In the Materials Manager position, you will lead a growing team and have opportunity for growth in the supply chain department as they expand the new plant.
The Materials Manager will lead inventory optimization and Materials Flow. They will report to the Global Supply Chain Director and ensure cost-effective, agile operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role will manage global supplier relationships and foster collaboration between sales, production, and logistics.
Responsibilities:
Execute inventory strategies balancing service reliability with minimized carrying costs using safety stock modeling and AI-driven forecasting.
Account for supplier lead times (2 weeks production + 4–5 weeks transit/customs) and implement strategies like JIT and Kanban for both domestic and international sourcing.
Apply ABC analysis, lifecycle management, and FIFO compliance to reduce obsolescence and improve turns.
Ensure real-time tracking, analytics, and visibility across all locations and material types.
Collaborate with Sales on forecast conversion and prioritize fulfillment based on margin tiers and strategic accounts.
Drive meetings, align procurement and production, and proactively flag constraints (e.g., delays, shortages) to leadership.
Qualify alternate suppliers, audit performance, and negotiate contracts that include lead time and MOQ flexibility with sustainability terms.
Use PFEP and Lean to reduce handling, deploy automation (e.g., RFID), and optimize storage layout.
Maintain 98%+ inventory accuracy, resolve discrepancies quickly, and lead sustainability initiatives like waste reduction and recyclable packaging.
Contribute to long-range IBP (18–60 months), align inventory with financial goals, and mentor planners to support data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications:
Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP MM/EWM, Oracle SCM), Power BI/Tableau, and demand planning tools (Kinaxis, Blue Yonder).
Expertise in statistical forecasting, safety stock modeling, and scenario planning.
Familiarity with industry-specific standards (e.g., IATF 16949 for automotive, IPC-610 for electronics) and Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt+ preferred).
Electronics/Automotive Focus: Experience with BOM (Bill of Materials) management for complex assemblies, component traceability, and counterfeit part prevention.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management, Operations, Engineering, or related field (required).
MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain; coursework in renewable energy systems or sustainability (preferred).
7+ years in inventory/materials management, including 5+ years in automotive, semiconductor, or electronics manufacturing.
Certification in APICS CPIM or CSCP.
Experience with automotive-tiered supply chains, component obsolescence, semiconductor materials flow, or ERP/SIOP implementation (preferred).
Compensation:
Base salary in the 110k - 135k/year range
Annual bonus eligibility of up to 15% (of salary) dependent on company, department, and individual performance metrics
