Overview
We are urgently hiring an experienced Math Tutor/Teacher to teach AMC 8 + Pre-Algebra at our Scarsdale learning center. This is a high-impact, part-time role focused on strong instruction, clear problem-solving, and student confidence-building using an AoPS-based curriculum.
Schedule & Location
In-person at our learning center in Scarsdale, NY 10583
Every Thursday for 3 hours (after school schedule)
Immediate start preferred
Compensation
$60–$100/hour, depending on experience
Top pay for candidates with strong AMC 8 outcomes and AoPS experience
What You’ll Teach
AMC 8 (competition math/problem solving)
Pre-Algebra foundations and readiness
Instruction guided by AoPS curriculum/materials (problem-solving focused)
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, structured small-group instruction in a classroom setting
Teach concept mastery and competition-style problem solving
Diagnose student gaps quickly and adjust pacing/support accordingly
Provide brief progress updates and feedback to the team as needed
Maintain a professional, supportive learning environment
Qualifications
Proven experience tutoring AMC 8 and advanced upper-elementary / middle school math
Strong command of Pre-Algebra concepts and problem-solving strategies
Familiarity with AoPS (Art of Problem Solving) approach/curriculum is strongly preferred
Reliable, punctual, and confident managing a small group in-person
Excellent communication and a student-centered teaching style
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, or a related field. (Master is a plus)
Experience with AMC or other math competitions is highly desired.
Strong understanding of math competition formats, strategies, and problem-solving techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for mathematics and a commitment to student success.
The ideal candidate must be available to work on week day after school hour or weekend.

Pay: $60.00 - $100.00 per hour
