    Position: Math & Reading Interventionist

    Reports to: The Lower School Principal

    Position Goal:

    The goal of this position is to support Traders Point Christian School’s mission to challenge and educate students within the framework of a Biblical worldview while leading them to a personal faith and transformed life in Jesus Christ.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Provide targeted small-group and individual academic support in reading and math to elementary students who need additional instruction, using school-identified strategies and assessment data to help students grow towards grade-level proficiency.

    Qualifications:

    Educational and Experience Requirements:

    • Experience working with elementary-aged students required (Degree preferred but not required)
    • Experience providing tutoring, small group instruction or academic support preferred
    • Basic understanding of foundational reading and math concepts
    • Ability to follow structured intervention plans and curriculum
    • Ability to monitor and document student progress
    • Strong organizational and communication skills

    As a member of TPCS, the Interventionist participates in chapel, prayer, and Biblical integration and serves as a spiritual role model within the school community.

    Responsibilities & Duties

    Instructional Responsibilities:

    • Provide small-group and individual math and reading intervention.
    • Use assessment data (NWEA, ILEARN, IREAD, Acadience/DIBELS, classroom data) to identify student needs and monitor progress.
    • Implement research-based strategies aligned with Indiana standards and the Science of Reading.
    • Maintain accurate records of student growth and intervention plans.

    Professional Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a structured, engaging, and orderly intervention environment.
    • Attend staff meetings, professional development, chapel services, and required school events.
    • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
    • Remain current in instructional practices and technology.

    Non-Instructional Responsibilities:

    • Fulfill assigned school duties (arrival, dismissal, supervision, etc.).
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lower School Principal.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the school day
    • Ability to work with students at floor level or at student table height
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (books, materials, etc.)
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families

    Exempt Status : Non-Exempt; Hourly

    Work Schedule:

    This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position aligned with the academic calendar. Hours include instructional time, planning, collaboration, data analysis, assigned duties, and school functions as directed.
