Mather Economics is looking for summer interns who are passionate about harnessing the power of data analytics to drive business and marketing decisions to join our talented team of Economics and Data Science professionals.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with impeccable attention to detail and strong time management and organizational skills. He or she must work well individually and in a team environment and enjoy brainstorming in a group. Strong communication skills are a must, both written and verbal, along with the ability to gather and synthesize information from a variety of sources under time constraints.
The ideal candidate holds or is working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field. He or she must have a strong working knowledge of Excel and Power Point and practical experience in SQL, Stata or other analytical tools like R, Python, etc.

This is a paid internship.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Aggregate, blend and harmonize raw structured and unstructured data from disparate sources
Mine large, complex data sets using queries and clustering to identify and create content segments to support development of useful insights to help guide business decisions
Verify and monitor ongoing data collection from client website tags to ensure data integrity and consistency
Assist Consultants and Analysts with on-going internal and ad hoc projects, such as:
Industry research and data gathering
Data entry and validation
Process efficiency improvements and documentation
Internal and external reporting
Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Rising Junior and above on path to BA or MA in Economics, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field. Underclassman candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but will not be eligible for a paid internship.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Proficiency with Power Point
Practical experience with SQL or relational database work; Hadoop, Hive, and Spark experience a plus
Practical experience with statistical and analytical programming tools like Stata, Python, R, or related tools
Familiarity with website design concepts, site tagging and data capture and experience with digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Omniture/Adobe Analytics a plus
Tableau experience a plus

Ability to work both autonomously and in a group setting
