    Mather Economics seeks experienced analysts who have strong technical skills with the ability to write efficient and maintainable code to join our teams of Data Science and Economics professionals, specializing in subscription analytics. 

    We are looking for candidates who enjoy being in the weeds with data, enjoy a fast-paced, team focused atmosphere, and have a desire to continually learn and improve their technical skills.  

    The major responsibility of the Data Science Analyst III will be planning and developing new methods to transform raw unstructured data into consistent and usable data for a variety of outputs. The Data Science Analyst III will also be expected to assist in the development of new modeling techniques using machine learning and other advanced statistical methods. Lastly, he or she will assist in the creation of new reporting and visualization for both internal and external audiences.

    Working with other consulting teams in a cross-company environment should be expected as new research and development becomes part of daily work operations, standard practices, and established in templates. Mather Economics’ analysts and economists will be the direct users of the data and research to deliver custom analysis and deliverables as required by each client engagement. 

    Candidates should have 2-5 years of experience in data cleaning, manipulation, and management of real-world data through previous work experience. Individuals should be detail-oriented, organized and have a good understanding of econometric and statistical modeling and coding. 

    Candidates should have a four-year degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in economics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Degrees should be accompanied with relevant internship or work experience. Technical skills should include Stata, SQL, and Python. 

    The successful candidate works autonomously, is proactive, takes initiative, and is an avid problem solver. He or she always exercises excellent judgment, is customer-focused, possesses excellent communication skills, and works well with others across all levels of the organization. 

    REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION: 

    • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred 
      • Preferred fields include: Economics, Statistics, Math, Data Analytics, Data Management, Computer Science

         

    • A good understanding of econometric or statistical modeling via previous experience
    • 2-5 years of practical experience with Stata, SQL, and Python or related tools
      • Enjoy being in the weeds with data and problem solving

      • Ability to write efficient and maintainable code

    • Practical experience with Tableau, Hadoop, Hive, or Spark is a plus
    • Advanced working knowledge of Excel 
    • Curious and continually eager to learn technical skills and methods
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Strong time management and project management skills
    • Detail-oriented 
    • Ability to work autonomously and use excellent judgment in escalating issues to supervisors 
    • High level of motivation and aptitude under a challenging and dynamic environment

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

    • Cleaning and ensuring data consistency using any of the following or comparable tools: SQL, Excel, VBA, Stata, R, SAS, Python, Unix, Hive, Spark, Pig, Hbase, JavaScript…etc. 
    • Developing statistical models to forecast trends, predict outcomes, or measure relationships using any of the following or comparable techniques: linear regression, discrete choice models, machine learning, risk management, survival analysis, decision trees, clustering…etc. 
    • Preparing reporting and visualization of complex statistical modeling using any of the following or comparable tools: PowerPoint, Excel, R, Prezi, Tableau, LogiXML, Pentaho…etc. 
    • Presenting the approach, analysis, results, and recommendations in a concise and understandable form to superiors and a non-technical audience 
    • Ability to learn complex processes, data, and concepts and apply the added information immediately to a new set of projects/goals 
    • Keen sense of ownership, responsibility, and maturity in daily work functions 
    • Perform data management such as data validation, quality assurance and health reporting 
    • Maintain data quality assurance on a regular basis for data feeds from clients and to clients  
    • Create and update health reporting to check for data quality assurance, anomalies, and process success 
    • Communicate with team on key performance insights (KPI) on health reporting and quality acceptance thresholds  
    • Adjust recurring processes and data to account for any errors outside of quality acceptance thresholds

     

    This position works out of our headquarters in the Sandy Springs area of Atlanta. This a full-time salaried position with full health benefits, 401K, paid vacation, and an annual bonus.
