    Mather Economics is a global business consultancy headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.  We work with our clients to implement analytics-driven strategies that increase subscriber revenue yield, operating margins, reader engagement and reduce subscriber churn.  We provide data science and analytics services our clients need to develop and implement a successful subscription strategy.  We offer strategic consultation, data science and econometrics, implementation support, benchmarking, A/B testing and best practice case studies.

    We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to oversee the next phase of our business - creating software to complement our analytic services. 

    The Product Owner will lead day-to-day responsibilities related to the design, development, and delivery of our new software products.  Candidates should have 3 – 5 years of relevant experience having led the development of products from ideation, design, development, and delivery.  The candidate should be comfortable addressing feedback and maintaining open communication between data engineers, developers, client consultants, business owners, and end users with the ability to manage competing viewpoints and to reconcile positions into a solution.  Strong project management skills and empathy are key traits of the candidate in order to hit aggressive timelines with feedback from senior leadership and other stakeholders.  Prior experience with relevant industries (media, direct-to-consumer goods, recurring revenue business models, B:B services) is not required but helpful for designing and executing new products for end users.  

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Collaborating with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements 
    • Converting product vision from leadership team into concrete features and milestones  
    • Creating and managing product roadmap based on this vision
    • Managing the product backlog and prioritizing tasks based on changing requirements
    • Planning and managing biweekly sprints at the task level for all developers, engineers
    • Leading sprint retrospective and planning sessions
    • Leading scrums with internal and external teams
    • Overseeing all stages of product creation including design, wireframing, development, testing
    • Monitoring and evaluating product progress at each stage of the process
    • Liaising with the product team, vendors, and end-users to deliver updates
    • Updating leadership with project status, risks, opportunities, and needs to hit milestones
    • Being accountable for the roadmap by prioritizing decisions to ensure alignment with strategic goals
    • Managing staff members with differing levels of experience
    • Managing stakeholders, making clear cases for prioritization, articulating ROI, and surfacing issues in a timely manner

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • A four-year degree from an accredited college or university.  A master’s degree is not required but encouraged.
    • Demonstrable experience and success building products and going to market is key.
    • 3-5 years prior experience in a product owner, product manager, or project management role 
    • Experience managing engineers and developers, both locally and offshore in different time zones 
    • Experience managing client and stakeholder relationships 
    • Proven examples of managing project stakeholders with empathy and flexibility
    • Experience with Agile methodology and serving as advocate for best practices in ways of working 
    • Experience with Azure DevOps project management software strongly preferred, but not required

    This position works out of our headquarters in the Sandy Springs area of Atlanta. This is a full-time salaried position with full health benefits, 401K, paid vacation, and an annual bonus.
